Commanders thought anti-Semitism kept him from Medal of Honor
Did the American government refuse to honor a World War II veteran who was regarded as a war hero by the British Empire, because he was Jewish?
The question apparently still lingered in David Rubitskys mind when he died, penniless, June 28 at a nursing home in East Moline, Ill., the local Quad-City Times reported.
Rubitskys commanders claim he single-handedly killed 500 to 600 Japanese soldiers while guarding a military outpost in Papua New Guinea during the Battle of Buna in December 1942.
According to Rubitskys account, he defended the bunker with a 30-cal. machine gun, a .45-cal. pistol, a rifle and grenades.
In a WND column in 2001, WND CEO and Editor Joseph Farah told Rubitskys story when the veteran was still lobbying for a Medal of Honor:
Rubitsky spent a total of 21 hours in the bunker including nine under heavy siege. The Japanese army attacked from three different directions the north, south and west. His bunker had slits on all sides, making it possible for him to respond to an attack from any direction. He switched from gun to gun and threw grenades at the enemy, while the Japanese alternately charged his position and shelled it with light artillery.

Today Rubitsky is 82 years old. He spent a total of 40 years in active military service. He is currently a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Disabled American Veterans.
He and those who love him want to see this injustice righted.
Evelyn Smith, the widow of Gen. Smith, has written a notarized statement regarding her husbands support of Rubitsky: My husband told me that Sgt. David Rubitsky deserved to win the Congressional Medal a second time in Leyte, Philippines, for knocking out seven machine gun nests, killing nearly 200 or more Japanese soldiers.
As for Rubitsky, himself, he says his lobbying for the medal at this stage is simply a matter of principle.
Somehow I just KNEW HIS NAME WAS DAVID!...............
Or Samson.
“Win?” that is an archaic term for the CMOH it was won in wars like the civil war Tom Custer got two but I think even by WW1 that term was being phased out for recipient or derivatives.
Impossible!
I’ve read that Jewish people are cowards and have never supported America, especially in military service right here on F.R.
Over-and-over.
(Yes, being saracastic, but wait and watch for these guys to show up here.)
And a good way of doing this is... ?
Dang good thing he had a copious stash of ammo in that bunker!
It would be hard to imagine what sort of recognition this man deserves.
My late uncle Max was a cook with MacArthur in the Philippines. He left the Army as a Master Sergeant
Cotton Hill only killed fity men.
I call Krav Maga “Jew-Jitsu”.
My beloved 88 year old Father served in WW2 and was in Germany at the time the camps were liberated in 1945. His first Cousin was a Pilot that was shot down over Germany and was executed by the Nazi’s for being Jewish.
My Grandfather served in WW1 and I have his discharge papers.
Jews have always served America very proudly. They are Jewish American’s and both were are equally important in their world
In part this snub is do to the fact that after the CIB, New Guinea is probably next on forgotten US theaters of WW II. At least in part due to the fact that Gen Macarthur (the Montgomery of the USARMY) Did so much to insure that the only name ever remembered in the theater was of course His.
My husband told me that Sgt. David Rubitsky deserved to win (receive) the Congressional Medal. a second time in Leyte, Philippines, for knocking out seven machine gun nests, killing nearly 200 or more Japanese soldiers.
OK, I corrected her statement for her and deleted some trivial details of a second possible CMOH "incident." </sarc>
Yes they did. Many flew in WWII, college boys they were, smart, they were darn good pilots. And don't forget the "Brooklyn Boys", the soldiers tasked to debrief the liberated prisoners from the Nazi Camps because they spoke the language(s) of those in the camps.
Saul has killed his thousands but David has killed his tens of thousands!
Most CMOH are awarded posthumously, anyway.
Never happen with a muslim occupying the White House,
And a good way of doing this is... ?
If he "earned" the CMOH, then perhaps his family should "receive" the CMOH posthumously since he is now dead (along with anti-semitism) 70 years after the battle.
One German responsible for 3/4ths of US deaths on Omaha Beach
I obviously agree with you.
In fact, statistically, Jewish people have been over-represented in the US military until the Obama administration, when they fell below.
I think some of that is Israel bleeding off American Jews to serve as volunteers, but also I wouldn’t salute Obama as CIC if I was Jewish.
