The IRS official at the center of the targeting controversy will testify before the House oversght committee as long as she gets full immunity from prosecution, one of her lawyers said yesterday.
Lois Lerner, the former head of the exempt section of the IRS that targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny, took the fifth at her previous appearance before the committee right after she declared her innocence.
Republicans on the committee say that her statement of innocence meant that she waived her fifth amendment right to self incrimination and she should testify willingly.

"They can obtain her testimony tomorrow by doing it the easy way ... immunity," William W. Taylor III said in a phone interview. "That's the way to resolve all of this." The comments reflect the hard-line approach Lerner, the former head of the IRS division that scrutinized conservative groups, and her legal team are taking in defending her role in the agency's scandal."

If the proffer includes evidence tying Obama to the crimes committed, I’d give her immunity. Her lawyer is smart enough to tell her she is going to prison if she does not cut a deal very soon.

I think the back-door communicant are more likely between Lerner’s lawyer and Issa to secure her truthful testimony in exchange for immunity.
If what she knows can’t get Hussein and his worshippers fired, she just gets a pardon from her master in a few years.
Exactly right. She is such an entrenched ideologue and should NOT be expected to play fair in this particular fight. If anyone believes that she is going to spill everything she knows, they are extremely naive.
No problem; HOLDER will Grant her FULL IMMUNITY, from the DOJ!
A plea deal? Ok, Immunity and a ten year term in Leavenworth!
Or Gitmo until she decides to come clean, and then Gitmo for life for any felonious activity she was a co-conspirator in.

Maybe Lerner’s lawyers should first offer a “proffer” about what she will testify to before the immunity is given. If she can point to White House political hacks as behind IRS targeting of conservative groups then by all means give her the immunity!
That arrogant thing should be in jail.
If she is willing to tell everything, and leave nothing unsaid, then yes.
She’s small fish compared to whom we could get.
It’s either that or she’s about as high as we could get.
This is what it will take to bring down the Obama regime. We are going to have to accept the fact that some criminals will walk if we are to bring down the head of this governmental beast. I would give her a immunity if she can connect this to the president.

And get pardoned in about two years, with nobody else implicated.
Oh, really? Well, the GOP should make sure not to do the Ollie North mistake which was to find out what she would say under oath *before* she testifies with a promise to prosecute her for perjury if she gives them false or “I can’t recall” testimony. Otherwise, no immunity.
But are we after bigger fish than Ms. Lerner? If so, and if she cooperates, I could grant her immunity but only under those conditions. Or maybe she’ll have a convenient fall down the stairs like Hillary did and claim she remembers none of it.
She is on record with a statement she “did nothing wrong” and by so doing waived her 5th Amendment coverage.
She is in NO position to demand immunity, because by so doing she is admitting (having made the above statement) she did do “something wrong”. Case closed. Subpoena immediately, and no conditions except the ones SHE set in her prior statement.
We already know what she did. She must testify to the truth of it. No immunity, there is no need.
That's what the Democrats were thinking when they gave Ollie North immunity.
