Lois Lerner, the IRS official who set off the controversy, has said that she first learned of the BOLO list in June 2011, and that she ordered the partisan criteria to be removed immediately.

A misfired email from a U.S. Internal Revenue Service employee in Cincinnati alerted a number of Washington IRS officials that extra scrutiny was being placed on conservative groups in July 2010, a year earlier than previously acknowledged, according to interviews with IRS workers by congressional investigators.

It would be great to know who gave her the marching orders. If she lies under the immunity umbrella she’s looking at perjury. Might have to give up a little fish to get bigger ones.

Absolutely...Ms. Lerner wants to give a carefully rehearsed version of “the truth” that is aimed at shifting blame away from herself and the White House. Too bad we don’t have a special prosecutor in this case, and it’s equally shameful that we have a politicized FBI that is “investigating.” I’m guessing there has been lots of back-door communications between Ms. Lerner, her superiors at the IRS and White House political operatives in recent weeks, to coordinate the story and ensure that potentially damaging evidence disappears.

Lerner needs to lead the parade of current and former IRS officials who will be going to jail.

Move the Congress to hold her in contempt. Republican majority will carry that vote. If a court fails to punish her for contempt, Republicans retain the issue.I am not nearly so pessimistic about obtaining a conviction for contempt, however.

Since Lerner has failed to make a proffer, the author is probably right, she has little to offer. But the committee is not without ammunition either. Besides the possible violations of laws cited, once the element of conspiracy is introduced any number of possible laws might have been broken. Lerner and lawyers must be very wary of this element because it is highly unlikely that she acted alone and the point of the investigation from a political point of view is to determine with whom it was she collaborated-or conspired.

These are my thoughts exactly. And, the terms of the immunity should apply only to crimes that she describes in testimony. All the skulduggery dealing with her tenure at the IRS that she withholds should still be liable against her.

Who has the right to fire this person? They should fire her ASAP with no severance pay! She willingly went along with unlawful bias that resulted in harm...is she union? The should sack her also.

The right approach here is to demand she pony up a proffer as a precondition of immunity. A proffer is a non-incriminatory statement, usually made through a lawyer, of what the witness is prepared to say under oath.

If she then lies under oath, breaking her proffer, the immunity deal becomes null and void.

Unless she is willing to accept credit for providing THE testimony to remove the Fraud from office asap, I say NO DEAL.
