Renee Montagne from NPR spoke with liberal columnist and author Glenn Greenwald, the reporter who co-wrote the stories for the British newspaper The Guardian, today on the massive data-mining scandal.
Greenwald dropped this bomb during the interview.
There are reported examples of the NSA, analysts at the NSA, using mechanisms they have access to. ABC reported several years ago through whistle blowers that they have used it to eavesdrop on people on whom they have personal grudges. There are isolated examples of the Patriot Act being abused. The problem is that the entire system operates behind a wall of extreme secrecy.
Heres Greenwald on NPR this morning:

But surely the Obama administration would not eavesdrop on political opponents.
Right?

thank you for posting the quotes from Thomas Jefferson, C.S. Lewis, and Samuel Adams!
History repeats itself...
HMMMMMMM
damn right Judge Roberts was blackmailed and with the help of Kagen making calls to the white house letting Obama know where judges stand on their votes before hand then all is well in the corrupt administration

Well then we are the first to have them.
#NSA ping. 0bama lies ...
For databases (even MASSIVE databases such as those being compiled of the telephonic “metadata”, etc.) and their supporting systems, records are automatically kept of specific queries that are made against the database. So if a query were made to select all metadata for a specific phone for a particular specified period, a record is made of that query and the metadata for that query will typically show from what computer the query was made and who was logged in to make that query.
If the House and Senate Republicans were serious, they’d be doing some VERY SPECIFIC questioning of the NSA about this. Believe me, while on the whole NSA may be more conservative than “average”, there are plenty of Obama acolytes scattered through that Agency (and its “partner” agencies_.
This is what happens when people with NO American perspective get into places of leadership.
That son of a whore Obama despises this country with a purple passion.
NPR, WaPo, Guardian. You think a Republican would risk their neck these days leaking to those folks? This stuff is coming from Democrats. What their motives are is not clear. I don’t take any of this at face value.
We can hope..
So THATS why McCain and Lindsay Graham vote like idiots. The NSA are listening.
The spooks don’t even have to “listen”. Just seeing who you are calling at 1 AM is enough to get some usable info.

The President has put in place an organization with the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life, Representative Maxine Waters told Roland Martin on Monday. Thats going to be very, very powerful, Waters said. That database will have information about everything on every individual on ways that its never been done before and whoever runs for President on the Democratic ticket has to deal with that. Theyre going to go down with that database and the concerns of those people because they cant get around it. And hes [President Obama] been very smart. Its very powerful what hes leaving in place. I believe it’s being leaked on purpose. “This is what we’re doing. This is how we’re doing it. Your efforts to stop us will fall on deaf ears like all the other scandals we’ve painted as unfounded smears. Straighten up and fly left or we will destroy you. Go ahead, keep your guns, you’ll never get a chance to use them. We have other ways to kill, figuratively or literally, you and anyone you care about.”
