Well, its been an interesting week in health care land. For a while now, independent analystsand conservative criticshave raised concerns that Obamacare will dramatically increase the cost of individually-purchased health insurance for healthier people. This would, of course, contradict President Obamas promises that if you like your plan, you can keep it and that the cost of insurance would go down by $2,500 per family per year. Whats new is that liberal columnists, facing reality, are conceding that premiums will go up for most people in the individual market. But theyre justifying it by saying that rate shock will help a tiny minority of people who cant get insurance today. If they had said that in 2009, would Obamacare have passed?
Last month, progressive pundits were trumpeting news out of California that the cost of health insurance under Obamacare in that state was surprisingly low. Well, the California bids are in, wrote Paul Krugman on May 27. And the prices, it turns out, are surprisingly low So yes, it does look as if theres an Obamacare shock coming, the shock that Obamacare will work just fine.
It turns out, however, that Krugman was uncritically regurgitating Californias misleading press release. In fact, the average 25 and 40-year-old will pay double under Obamacare what they would need to pay today, based on rates posted at eHealthInsurance.com (NASDAQ:EHTH). More specifically, for the typical 25-year-old male non-smoker, the average Obamacare bronze exchange plan in California will cost between 64 and 117 percent more than the cheapest five plans on eHealth. For 40-year-old male non-smokers, its between 73 and 146 percent more.

The gist of the Democrat’s argument:
Ezra Klein of the Washington Post, in response to my article on this topic, checked out the eHealth rates for plans in his hometown of Irvine, California, and compared them to a similar website sponsored by the government at healthcare.gov. He found that the third-cheapest plan there cost only $109 a month, if theyll sell it to you for that price. According to the government, Ezra notes, 14 percent of people who tried to buy that planHealth Nets IPF PPO Value 4500were turned away. Another 12 percent were asked to pay more than $109.
To Ezra, its galling that three-fourths of his compatriots can pay $109 for health insurance, because 12 percent were not eligible for the plan, and another 14 percent had to pay somewhat more. This is why Obamacare is a great achievement, he says, because Health Net will have to serve all comers, regardless of prior health status.
Never forget that Obamacare was passed against the will of the people with 2/3 or more opposing its passage.
Yes, Anthony, today is a very, very good day.
The entire liberal agenda is built on one heaping lie after another. No truth in any of it.

“Never forget that Obamacare was passed against the will of the people with 2/3 or more opposing its passage.”
Apparently, a similar percentage of Germans didn’t want anything to do with the Euro or the EU, but government forced them to do it. The elites, people who have never worked except in government, whose parents were politicians before them, get what they want. They know the levers of power and what the people want is irrelevant. The people are children who don’t know what’s good for them.
Squeezing out the competition has always been the Obamacare method to get to a single payer gub’mint cradle to grave system of control. Control = power=continued control. Welcome to the fundamentally transformed Amerika.
We couldn’t know it was such a good thing until it was passed. (nobody read it) Now that it’s been passed, and read, whoa, what a good ——ing deal.
If the right were smart they would get copies of all of the speeches that Obama told us that health care would be cheaper. You know as well as I do that they will disappear off the net.
Like I have said so many times in the past, the left writes our ads for us but we don’t use them to our advantage.
How 1984-ish of them.
"So what your point?"
Socialism is misery, equally shared.
It doubles premiums for those foolish people who go out to a job every day and pay exorbitant taxes and get called “oppressors” for their trouble.
The “oppressed” don’t pay any premium, that’s why the “oppressors” pay double.
All this hand wringing about gold, silver and bronze plans and costs and who is and isn’t accepted blah, blah, blah is meaningless.
This isn’t about health, it isn’t about insurance - it is about taxing and more money to be able to afford keeping the Democrat entitlement constituency in their status quo. That is all that it is.
Why does anyone think that most of those young people will pay ALL of a monthly premium???? The truth is, only those “most fortunate” will pay “full price”.
The truth is that the IRS and Sebellius are making this sh!t up as it goes along. The truth is that anyone currently on one or more of the 85+ government entitlement programs won’t pay a damned dime...that’s the truth of it.
Good if you want to eventually control the masses through single payer.
