It was, Senator Harry Reid of Nevada ebulliently proclaimed, a happy day for me as he stood with Wayne LaPierre, the head of the National Rifle Association, in 2010 at a new shooting range in Las Vegas made possible by federal money secured by Mr. Reid. People who criticize this probably would criticize baseball, Mr. Reid said before firing off a few rounds.
These days, Mr. Reid, the Senate majority leader, is far more likely to meet with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg of New York, an outspoken advocate of stricter gun control, than with Mr. LaPierre as he prepares to bring the most expansive package of gun safety legislation in a decade to the Senate floor over the next few weeks.
Mr. Reids evolution from a proponent of gun rights to the shepherd of legislation that would expand background checks, among other gun control measures, emerges from a complex web of political calculations that have come to define his leadership style over the last decade.
How tenacious Mr. Reid is willing to be and whether he will extract votes one by one as he has for other big pieces of legislation may well determine the fate of the measures.
Mr. Reid declined to be interviewed but answered questions...

Mr. Reid, aides said, is also motivated by both the personal angst he felt over the killing of 20 schoolchildren in Newtown, Conn., last year, as well as the anger he feels toward the N.R.A., which was widely expected to endorse him in his 2010 re-election campaign but then declined to do so.

This conflict came to the fore during discussions of changing the filibuster rules; Mr. Reid ultimately chose an approach that placed fewer limitations on a minority partys ability to filibuster than the newer members wanted...

You’d think the Jim Zumbo debacle would have opened NRA’s eyes.
What people have to understand about the NRA is they are a one issue organization that has helped secure our rights in regards to the second amendment better than any other 2nd amendment rights organization out there. After Sandy Hook the MSM was not out attacking GOA were they? No, they were going after the NRA. That tells you all you need to know.
A Congressman can be a complete scumbag, but if they are right on all second amendment issues then they get an ‘A’. That’s the way it goes. The NRA announces ahead of votes whether they will be scoring them towards the NRA rating. Such as voting for Kagan and Sotemeyor. By following this path, they have helped to secure our rights. Without the NRA, I totally believe we would have an assault weapons ban, gun registration, high capacity magazine ban and who knows what else. The NRA is not perfect, but overall they are the best thing out there for protection of our second amendment rights.
Yeah, NRA is a target, but SAF and GOA do good work.
Another thing that’s changed is the amount gun organizations from manufactures to the Outdoor Channel are willing to punish anti 2A groups.
I predict that this post of yours at #6 of this thread will go down in FR history alongside the comment by "lowbridge" that got the ball rolling on the Dan Rather "evidence" that GWB never served.
Watch the news. It's a comin'. I can feel it.
BAhh!
And there are some board members that think 500 hp cars are unnecessary.
Andrew Coumo cracks me up with his thinking
“You don’t NEED a 30 round mag to hunt deer!!!”
Yo Andy, You don’t “Need” 15 muscle cars.
But I say it is your “Right” to own them.
Another RINO who will vote in Reid/ Obama camp
Did you happen to get the number? I’d like to share my views on that issue with Senator Coats.

A horrific crime indeed representing less than 0.00004% of the noobs killed through abortion.
Outlaw forceps.
Look at abortion.
obama “evolves” and all the democrats evolve with him.
I have been looking at polls on abortion. It's breaking prolife, especially among young voters. Ditto the 2nd Amendment.
Ba Bump
It’s the New York Times. It’s the left of the left of the left.
My mistake.......I didn’t read the WHOLE thing..
Just a little more horse sh*t from America’s premier birdcage liner.
I have seen those same polls, but you have to remember a few things.
First, I haven’t see the real “meat” of those polls. How, where, and how often where they taken? What where the questions? Etc. There are polls that show the exact opposite (more young people are pro abortion and anti gun).
Second, young people don’t vote. The current political class doesn’t care much about young voters, because the age group of 18 to mid 20’s don’t vote much.
Third. Even if they poll is correct, and this group is voting. They are voting Democrat by a wide margin. So no matter what their personal beliefs and values are, they are voting for those who do not share that belief on those issues.
Now in 20 or 30 years things might shift as these people becoming a bigger active voting block, and the boomers die off. And they as a group might totally change their views.
In short, the polls are nice, but just window dressing.
