ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York man previously charged with having child pornography cut an electronic monitoring device off his ankle before carjacking a woman, fatally stabbing her and raping her 10-year-old daughter, authorities said.
David J. Renz, 29, abducted a school librarian and her daughter as they left a gymnastics class at a mall in the Syracuse suburb of Clay at about 9 p.m. Thursday, state police said Friday.
Troopers said he bound both victims, raped the child and drove a short distance to a spot where the girl managed to escape and was found by a passing motorist.

Democrats protect and work to increase the criminal class so that they can run on the need for a larger and more expensive government.
It's a deterrent for the offender!
Of course it is, but IMHO, the deterrent effect is irrelevant. It is a fitting punishment for the deliberate and intentional taking of an innocent life, and should need no further justification than that.
And you are absolutely correct.

It could work in a car, too. One of our back-up pieces is an older 12ga flare gun that we have loaded with a standard 12ga 00 round. I’ve fired it and it’s got one heckuva kick but it also makes a very big hole at short range.
Well, try and remember that it’s NYC that went after soda. NY State, at this point, is refusing to enact that stupid and pointless ban.
What a tragic, evil story.
A the Great Outdoors, one can buy a can of mace for like $10 dollars. How does one man abduct two people?
I am sorry to read this. I hope women start to think of how they can fight back.
“Prayers up for mom and child”.
It is bad enough that this poor child was bound and raped but to watch her Mother get fatally stabbed in front of her. I pray that this innocent child can heal.
These monsters either need to be killed or locked up for life, there is no rehabilitation with them.
Looks like NYs Safe act is really working out well.
But, to the progressives, this woman is far more virtuous lying dead in a field than she would be had she killed her attacker (permanently stopping him from doing this to someone else.)
“This is a guy that had THOUSANDS of videos and photos of small girls engaged in sex play. “
Someone will be along shortly to say it’s merely a coincidence.

He sits next to the child, with the knife around the kid’s neck.
But agree with your general point, that was a life-threatening situation (obviously) and she needed a better plan than compliance.

She’s supposed to say that she has an STD.
Your method might work better, though...
I understand the sentiment, but this piece of excrement does not deserve a memorial head stone. I would not use his remains to feed to pigs. . . The pigs might get food poisoning from this offal.
AMEN! This makes me sick!
“Winner gets to pull the trigger that sends a round through the head of this POS”
Too good for the SOB. A bullet in the brain only snuffs out the light just as painlessly as the guillotine’s blade.
Winner should cheat & aim for the goblin’s groin, so he can think about it for a while as he bleeds out.
I went to HS with a girl who was stabbed along with her mother during a home robbery by a stranger. The mother died but the teenager survived. Even with the best of care and a great supportive network, she still has problems because of the incident, and this is now 35 years later. I’m afraid that the girl in this news story will always be scarred, but I pray for her best recovery.
I agree. Something “died” in your friend that day and I think people may forget that. Such trauma... even with help, a supportive family, counseling, you name it.. it doesn’t go away, does it? That is why, IMHO, this man should be executed. He not only killed the Mother but “killed” the daughter that day. I, too, pray for her best recovery.
