January 30, 2013

Ann Coulter

Apart from finding out that Barack Obama did far worse in his re-election than nearly any other incumbent who won re-election, the only thing that perked me up after Nov. 6 was coming across a Time magazine published after the 2004 election, when George W. Bush won a second term.

In the mirror image of all the 2012 post-election analyses, the Democrats were said to be finished, out of ideas, hopelessly unpopular. It's like watching MSNBC, with the word "Democrats" replaced with "Republicans."

Democrats had thrown everything they had into beating Bush, crushing the Howard Dean wing of their party and running a moderate -- a Vietnam veteran, no less! They had George Soros, Michael Moore and Code Pink working like fiends to topple Bush.

Still, they lost to an incumbent. As Time noted, the Democrats had "lost five of the past seven presidential elections."

But the pendulum swings. The Democrats came roaring back in 2006 and again in 2008. There's no reason Republicans can't do the same, unburdened by having to run against an incumbent in 2016.

Unless Marco Rubio has his way.

The Democrats never change their ideas; they change the voters. For decades, Democrats have been working feverishly to create more Democrats by encouraging divorce (another Democratic voter!), illegitimacy (another Democratic voter!) and Third World immigration (another Democratic voter!).

Strangely, some Republicans seem determined to create more Democratic voters, too. That will be the primary result of Sen. Marco Rubio's amnesty plan.

IT'S NOT AMNESTY! Rubio's proponents cry. They seem to think they can bully Republicans the way the Democrats do, by controlling the language.

Rubio's bill is nothing but amnesty. It isn't even "amnesty thinly disguised as border enforcement." This is a wolf in wolf's clothing.

Despite all the blather about how Rubio demands "Enforcement First!" the very first thing his proposal does is make illegal aliens legal. (Don't call them "illegal aliens"!)

The ability to live and work legally in America is the most valuable commodity in the world; it's the Hope Diamond of the universe. I know young, well-educated Canadians who waited a decade for that privilege.

Step One of Marco Rubio's plan is: Grant illegal aliens the right to live and work in America legally. (Rubio's first move in poker: Fold.)

People who have broken our laws will thus leap ahead of millions of foreigners dying to immigrate here, but -- unwilling to enter illegally -- waiting patiently in their own countries.

The only thing the newly legalized illegal immigrants won't get immediately is citizenship. Rubio claims that under his plan, they won't be able to vote or go on welfare. But in practice, they'll have to wait only until the ACLU finds a judge to say otherwise.

Even under Rubio's scheme, all the children born to the 11 million newly legalized illegals will be instant citizens, able to collect welfare for their whole families and vote as soon as they are old enough.

Which won't be long: The vast majority of illegal aliens are Hispanic, and Hispanics have a higher teen birthrate than any other ethnic group. In California, a majority of all Hispanic births are illegitimate. That's a lot of Democratic voters coming.

And look how great that's turned out! With Hispanics on track to become the largest ethnic group in California this year, the state that gave us Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan is incapable of electing any Republican statewide anymore. Taxes keep going up, and there's no one left to pay the bill.

That will be our entire country if Republicans fall for Rubio's phony "Enforcement First!" plan. Perplexingly, some Republicans seem determined to turn the whole nation into California, in the foolish hope of winning one last election.

No border can be secure when the pot of gold on the other side is an American green card. (Again playing games with language, Rubio doesn't call the right to legally live and work here a "green card," but in practical effect, that's what it is.)

So when exactly does the enforcement part of Rubio's "Enforcement First!" plan kick in? Answer: Never.

Or rather, enforcement becomes both impossible -- because nothing will stop them if legalization is the lure -- and irrelevant -- because there's no penalty for leaving the border wide open.

Even if enforcement "fails," are the 11 million illegals already legalized by Rubio going to be asked to leave? Of course not.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is a Republican who -- as a Princeton and Harvard Law graduate -- does not yearn for "strange new respect" from the elites. This week, he said of Rubio's amnesty plan: "To allow those who came here illegally to be placed on such a path is both inconsistent with rule of law and profoundly unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who waited years, if not decades, to come to America legally."

If only other Republicans didn't ride the tea party to victory before realizing they really just want to be John McCain.

"ubio has been very forthcoming about his amnesty positions."

All I've heard him say is that not securing the border is a deal breaker. That means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. This bill will get reconstructed, drafted and pushed through just like health care so that it can be passed in order to see what's in it. Democrats promising to a provision is as worthless as the oath of office they took in vain.

Once any version of this bill passes, it's "Katie bar the door". All Mr. Rubio needs to do (as I suggested when I called his Miami office) is go on national TV and ask the democrats to include that the back ground check provision will mandate pulling voter registration roles to see if felony vote fraud has been committed by applicants.

The dems would scream "racist" , but it won't happen anyway because the fix is in - count on it.

WOW! Your words exactly express my feelings. The political class in D.C. will destroy this Republic.

There is absolutely no way to "legislate" this country back to Liberty.

A collapse is coming, 1, 5 or 20 years. Let's pray our Republic can be restored.

Soon will come a breaking point.

The tyranny of the Washingtonians and their apparatchiks in the bureaucracy and their demented evil propagandists in the press must inevitably result in the collapse of the first American Republic and the rise of a second Republic.

A Republic where the Franchise is limited to responsible citizens, and the Capital in not located in DC but is rotated amongst the States that are invited to join (NY, CA, the entire Northeast and IL need not bother to apply).

The sooner the collapse happens, the better.

Amen....Amen....Amen....and Amen!

Agree on all points! Even so, come quickly!

How dare you attack Rush Limbaugh!

From this moment on, you will not be allowed to purchase a Sleep Number Bed, a single gold bar, rent a temporary office, or use Carbonite or Go-to-Meeting. Please, don't beg.

Former rock'n'roll DJ Rush may be, but he has achieved sainthood and is quoted daily by many of the smartest people in trailer parks everywhere. The fact that he does not question Rubio's status as a Natural Born Citizen, despite being born to two (2) non-citizens is proof positive that this issue does not matter.

As far as illegal immigration goes, it wasn't all that long ago that St. Rushmo was saying "....sign of a healthy economy ... hardworkers ... doing jobs that Ameri .....etc. etc." ad naus. In short, he was a mouth for Karl Rove and his preposterous theory of "Mexicans the Republicans of the Future."

Rush is a broadcaster of absolutely preternatural talent. Political Philosopher? Nah! His job is preaching to the choir and selling them weird stuff, which he does very, very well.

We need to get Rubio to amend the “immigration reform initiative” to include a requirement for the “illegal aliens “ to forfeit their right to vote until they qualify for USA citizenship or 25 years, whichever is LESS?

Clearly this whole amnesty crap is nothing short of pandering for Hispanic votes. Disqualifying them from voting should be added to the penalties for being in the country illegally (why can’t we call them what they are - CRIMINALS) and non-negotiable from the Pub standpoint. Let’s see how many Rats will go for this one, which would demonstrate their true motive behind this “immigration reform initiative”.

Yes, the dems are pulling every issue out to the open for repubs so they can continue to look like “the party of NO”.

Perception is reality in politics. Politics is all about amassing power by consensus.

NOW -I would suggest that the questions being asked are not legitimately premised UNLESS there is a campaign. The Republicans are already in office -they do not have to gain power -they already have it -they own the House. No campaign necessary -in fact, campaigning is a distraction and a waste of efforts and resources. Let Obama campaign all he wants -so what!!!!

As such, no consensus is necessary and as such perception is irrelevant.

The Part of NO should remain the party of NO -NO more compromise. As well, the party of NO should become the party of NO COMMENT. To hell with even attempting to make a case for a media that is in bed with the enemy.

Republicans should ignore all the leftist diversions -ignore all the media circus -not even participate in the perception and consensus game. They should just hunker down and execute the plan -period!

Really, I could care less about interviews and statements and this or that BS -all I care about are the votes and the actions. They should just do it -no apologies or excuses or rationale is necessary to do their job no mater how many times the left demands it! The left is NOTHING -the left is not the grand arbiter that decides what is and what is not legitimate so why even entertain their questioning -tell the left to pack sand -no comment necessary!!!!

The time for a new strategy -a strategy of action rather than discussion is NOW! No bipartisanship or Obama approval is necessary...

If Mr. Rubio gets his way on immigration, he will have succeeded in doing more damage to conservative ideals - and to America’s future - than a RINO like Chris Christie could ever hope to do...

I like Rush’s idea. Make them all legal citizens immediately, except they can’t vote for the next 25 years.

If you are not deporting Illegal Aliens, it is Amnesty.

That idea is like letting all the drunk drivers escape DUI charges, but have to walk to bars for the next 25 years. Aint gonna happen

What a dumb statement. Does Rush really believe the courts would allow a second class of citizenship for 11 million or more people? There is no way legal citizens of this country can be denied the vote just because they gained their citizenship thru an amnesty.

"Actually heard him utter the phrase “undocumented worker” on the 10 minutes of the 3 hour Limbaugh show..."

Ok, that does it! I'm going to have to go to his site and check the transcript because the crap phrase in quotes, if accurate, sure would give me an "oh (BLEEP!)" moment!!!

Not because Rubio said it as a freudian slip of monumental proportions, but because Rush didn't catch it instantly and call Marco out on it. Maybe Rush's hearing problem caused this, who knows. That new TX Senator Cruz is the one Rush really should be supporting IMO, but it's his show. Aside from that it's my country!!!

Rubio insists on controlling border, visas, etc., BEFORE granting green cards to non-criminals. However, right now we have 11-20 million illegals, no controls on the border, ruined social security, injured employment, injured health care, etc., all because the status quo prevails.

Rubio wants to legalize their status immediately so they can stay and work here, It is an amnesty.

Any legislation that legalizes the status of those who broke our laws by entering our country illegally and allows them to stay and work here is amnesty. We must not only prevent the Democrats and some moderate Republicans from hijacking the meaning of the word amnesty, but the public must be made aware about the true impact of an amnesty. The Heritage Foundation concluded that the cost of amnesty would be $2.6 trillion just for increased entitlement program costs. And the number of additional LEGAL immigrants who would join those who were the recipients of amnesty through chain migration, i.e., family reunification, would approach 70 million over a 20-year period, assuming there are only 12 million illegal aliens. We cannot assimilate such numbers. An amnesty would destroy the United States of America with the stroke of a pen.

Who benefits from the status quo?

The Dems benefit with or without an amnesty. Legal immigration is actually more of a problem than illegal immigration. The legal immigrants are having far more of an impact electorally. The Dems don’t need a amnesty to get more Dem voters. Every year, 1.2 million legal immigrants enter the US and the overwhelming majority of them will be voting Dem. The last decade ending in 2010 saw the largest number of legal immigrants ever to enter this country in our history—13.9 million. One in 8 in this country is foreign born compared to one in 21 in 1970. Immigration is changing our electoral demographics ensuring that the Dems will be the permanent majority party. Amnesty just hastens a process that has been ongoing over the past 40 years.

Democrats as illegals pour across the border

40% of the illegals who are in this country came here legally and overstayed their visas. Securing the border only solves part of the problem.

The neo-Cons at “Commentary” and “Weekly Standard” are promoting your argument.

It makes no sense to me.

Obama has already given “Executive Order Amnesty” to 2 million illegals - those brought here as “children” and those with a legal spouse or with legal dependent family members.

Once he gets citizenship for the other 9 million, Texas will vote Democrat in 2016, and Conservatism will be dead.

The MSM has been demonizing Republicans 24-7 on every issue imaginable for the last 20 years - why would Obama have to “torpedo” immigration reform to make that happen?

If Congress doesn't vote for Amnesty, Obama will just grant Amnesty by Executive Order.

Believe it or not, Romney was the strongest anti-Amnesty candidate in the GOP Primary.

He pretty much avoided the issue during the general election.

No telling where he might have ended up on the issue if he had been elected and “matured” in office.

Why did he have to demagogue the ‘fiscal cliff’ when he had just won the election? Why did he have to jump on gun control with both feet less than three hours after the shooting at Newtown? You don’t think he or Schumer or Durbin really intend to work with Rubio on his plan do you? 0bama came out the day after the Schumer-Durbin-Rubio press conference and threw a wrench in their ‘bi-partisan’ announcement. This is a bait-and-switch IMO.
