Laws for thee but not for me. Why do I as a law abiding citizen have to give up the weapon that I have had for many years and never once fired a shot in anger?

Of course, this goes right along with the 3rd-world banana republic style government that Obama has brought us. One set of rules for El Presidente and his cabinet, another set of rules for the great unwashed.

Every time I think it’s impossible for me to be more disgusted by our politicians, they manage to exceed expectations.

Disgusting people, the lot of them.

Not everyone will have to abide by Senator Dianne Feinstein's gun control bill.

Damn right they won't.

The USA is emulating the old Soviet Union. The proletariat get all the “benefits” while they dump on the peons.

If the proposed legislation becomes law, government officials and others will be exempt.

Duh. Did you really expect Her Highness Senator Feinstein to live under the same laws as the rest of us?

Just like every other law they foist upon us. I’m sure muzzies and union clods will get the same exemption, as always.

WHAT is so special about “retired police personnel” that they get a special dispensation from our laws?

But of course, "all animals are equal but some animals are more equal then others"

Our betters in government do not want the serfs (former US citizens) to be armed. Not surprising at all, seldom has the conqueror allowed the conquered arms.

Why do people in POWER always want to declare the rest of us all incompetent?
We do not need, we do not want, to be wards of the state.
We are not serfs or indentured servants, but that's what they want us to be.
We are FREE Men and Women, adults, and we NEED our guns to make sure we stay that way.

and retired law enforcement personnel

I can understand (but still not like) the idea of current law officers being allowed otherwise prohibited weapons, but why do they always excuse retired cops? The current ones are covered by internal affairs and psychological evaluations. The retired ones are no longer subject to department discipline, no longer have colleagues keeping an eye on them to see if they are muttering to themselves all the time.

Another word for a retired cop is civilian.

I love the Constitution, but we need an amendment: "Congress shall not exempt themselves from laws they inflict on the People."

Petition to Sarah Palin: Governor, please announce your candidacy now and make this amendment your first promise.

Pathetic hypocrites.

The NY law, hastily thrown together, doesn’t exempt LEOs from the mag capacity limitation. Because after all, “No honest man needs more than 7 rounds, anyways.”

It is almost as if they know this issue is a loser for them and they put this in there on purpose. Not to mention the presser where it was stated that the 223 will blow up large animals. Either they want this to fail, or its a very bad parody, on par with an SNL skit.
