Joe Biden 'intoxicated' by 2016 run

Joe Biden summoned more than 200 Democratic insiders to the vice presidential residence Sunday night to chat about the 2012 triumph — but many walked away convinced his rising 2016 ambitions were the real intent of the long, intimate night.

“I took a look at who was there,” said longtime New Hampshire state Sen. Lou D’Allesandro, “and said to myself, ‘There’s no question he’s thinking about the future.’”

He’s right. Biden, according to a number of advisers and Democrats who have spoken to him in recent months, wants to run, or at least be well positioned to run, if and when he decides to pull the trigger. Biden has expressed a clear sense of urgency, convinced the Democratic field will be defined quickly — and that it might very well come down to a private chat with Hillary Clinton about who should finish what Barack Obama started.

“He’s intoxicated by the idea, and it’s impossible not to be intoxicated by the idea,” said a Democrat close to the White House. And the intoxication is hardly new. Officials working on the Obama-Biden campaign last year were struck by how the vice president always seemed to have one eye on a run, including aggressively courting the president’s donors. Obama aides at times had to actively steer Biden to places where he was needed — like Pennsylvania — because he kept asking to be deployed to Iowa, New Hampshire and other early states.

That whitey hatin’ wookie has no chance in hell.

People (Democrats) aren't backing Hillary in 2008/2016 because she's brilliant. They see it as an opportunity for another Bill/Hillary CO-presidency.

Obama could do the same run-around of the Constitution. With a sizable voting bloc giving him 97% support (and then lying about how great the inauguration ceremony was when questioned a week BEFORE it happened), skillz don't matter in this day and age.

I hate to be so damn pessimistic, but I really don’t see a repub President in 2016 or even 2020. The last election proved that America loves Democrats and would hate to see a Republican in power. Jmo.

I forgot to add that that is the reason why an idiot like Biden or Hillary will win because the low info voters are the votes that matter now.

Thanks Servant of the Cross. Caution: this story is just a diversionary tactic from the Partisan Media Shills, but engineered by their overlords in the White House.

The sad thing is that I am absolutely confident that the GOP can nominate someone who would lose to him.

A sober GOP candidate like Rubio, Ryan, Jindal, etc. would utterly destroy Clown Biden, and Dems know this.

You mean the way that we thought that Paul Ryan would destroy Biden in the debate one-on-one? Biden was a class A jerk to be sure, but in all honesty he got away with bullying Ryan, and interrupting him, smirking & guffawing constantly.... and Ryan was reduced to standing there chastised and taking it without any smack down retort from him. Everyone knew that Biden was going to act that way, but apparently Ryan & his GOP prep team, failed to anticipate that and to have a strategy to instantly smack down Biden AND the moderator when that occurred multiple downs without any rebuttal.

The 3 names you mentioned.... Ryan, Rubio, Jindal... either Biden OR Hillary will destroy these guys by acting like bullies & assholes with constant shilling from their media partisan hacks, and these 3 polite, nice Repubs would be destroyed in a political street fight. Our guys, whoever they may be, will need to fight harder & meaner than they have ever done before. It comes naturally for the socialist RAT bastard demoRATs.

Also because of the shifting demographics, illegal aliens being given the right to vote, photo ID laws are still being struck down, the constant personal attacks against Repubs by the media, and the cowardice of Boehner & McConnell & GOPers in House & Senate, I see Repubs losing the House big time in 2014, losing more Senate seats as well, and getting trounced by whoever is on the Dem ticket for president in 2016.

Of course by that time, we may no longer have a nation anyway. I am all for secession of 14-18 Southern & Western states, and would willing to move in a heartbeat from MN to join any seceding states.

“...but I really don’t see a repub President in 2016 or even 2020. The last election proved that America loves Democrats and would hate to see a Republican in power.”

Same here. We have reached the point where people will vote solely on how much free stuff they can get from the government. We have reached a point where the media almost actively campaigns on behalf of a candidate and that candidate’s poilitical party.

Was it Dinesh D’Souza who said that the 2012 Presidential election was the last exit ramp for this nation? Folks, we have passed the last exit ramp.

Mooch-hell wants her turn and isn’t going to waste time with a Senate seat like her husband or Hillary.

Actually that is my biggest fear, more so than Hitlery or Biden. I recall in 2004 watching 0dumb0 give the keynote speech at Kerry's nomination, and having a sinking feeling that this RAT bastard commie muzlim pig would be our next Dem president in 2008...and sure enough.

I am concerned that phatass mabelle michelle will throw her hat in the ring and will be the INSTANT front runner because 1) She's black & affirmative action and 2) She's a radical socialist demoRAT commie pig just like her metrosexual husband. That's enough credentials for >50% of the country to vote for her!

I hope our country splits in two before that would ever happen -- CW II.

To the extent that you mean The Idiocracy, whose members are growing exponentially, will always vote for the better brawler (no matter how idiotic), you are right. I just think we won’t yet be that far gone by 2016. We ARE doomed, don’t misunderstand me, but I think in 2016 we will still have 55% of voters who look at a clown like Clown Biden and shudder away. I hope I am right and you are wrong. If not, I will move to a tropical banana republic and begin drinking my life away posthaste.

Whoever is the Dem candidate for pres in 2016, will be hailed & glorified & deified & hailed as the next 2nd coming after the glorious reign of King 0bama. The Repub candidate in the meantime will be villified & demonized, as the incarnate devil himself who hates women, hates Hispanics, hates children, hates any minorities, just hates, hates & hates...

I believe it will be either Hillary or Moochelle rather than Biden. If so, either one will start off with an automatic 55% of the country's vote, partly because the media will go into a massive propogande blitz proclaiming either one as the next Glorified 2nd Coming after 0bama. Unfortunately most of the nation still gets their news from the partiscan hack mainstream media, which will be non-stop, demoRAT propaganda.
