White House Says It Has No New Fiscal Cliff Plan

By JON KARL, SUNLEN MILLER (@sunlenmiller) , JOHN PARKINSON (@jparkABC) and SARAH PARNASS (@wordsofsarah) Dec. 27, 2012

The White House said today it has no plans to offer new proposals to avoid the fiscal cliff which looms over the country's economy just five days from now, but will meet Friday with Congressional leaders in a last ditch effort to forge a deal.

Republicans and Democrats made no conciliatory gestures in public today, despite the urgency.

The White House said President Obama would meet Friday with Democratic and Republican leaders. But a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner said the Republican "will continue to stress that the House has already passed legislation to avert the entire fiscal cliff and now the Senate must act."

The White House announced the meeting after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., called the budget situation "a mess" and urged the president to present a fresh proposal.

"I told the president I would be happy to look at whatever he proposes, but the truth is we're coming up against a hard deadline here, and as I said, this is a conversation we should have had months ago," McConnell said of his phone call with Obama Wednesday night.

McConnell added, "Republicans aren't about to write a blank check for anything Senate Democrats put forward just because we find ourselves at the edge of the cliff."

"That having been said, we'll see what the president has to propose," the Republican Senate leader said.

Their plan is to pull the country over the “cliff” and blame it on the Pubs.

Obama offered a plan this AM and Scott Brown leaked the news and now the Kenyan and his winged monkey are backtracking and saying there wasn’t an offer.

Who needs a NEW fiscal cliff plan. The old one seems to be getting us there just fine.

No new plan? That means he's sticking with the old plan, huh? Intentionally pushing us over the cliff by rejecting any offer that is put to him?

Such a surprise.

Everyone in the liberal media and many here on FR (sad to say) have been blaming John Boehner...whereas HE has been the only leader on Capitol Hill who has been putting proposals together....

The blame is 95 percent on Obama and the Senate Democrats. Obama budgets...ZERO VOTES...he couldn’t even get his own party to vote for it. Senate Democrats have not passed a budget in 3-plus YEARS.

The White House is getting EXACTLY what it wants with sequestration.

- Taxes go up (more revenue)
- Massive Defense cuts (liberals dream)
- Entitlements continues to grow.
- Republicans get all the blame.

Boehner and McConnell are clowns. They couldn’t lead a boy scout troup out of a parking lot.

The only plan the administration has ever had, the only plan the democrats have ever had, is tax and spend. Tax the productive, buy the votes of the deadbeats. Lather, Rinse, Repeat. That’s all they know. They’re the National Socialist party of the United States after all.

Boehner is one of the guys who agreed to sequestration. He is an idiot.

On the news today I heard the following conversation:

Rep: Asks MSM Pimp girl who was House speaker when Herbert Hoover as president?

MSM pimp girl: I dunno.

Rep: Think about it.

This clown couldn’t run a sidewalk lemonade stand business. No planning. No organization. No directing. No control. Incompetent staffing.

Thug scum like him can only threaten, attack, and blame others when everything fails.

Evil always has a plan. Maybe not a “fiscal cliff” plan, but a plan, nonetheless.

I'll give Boehner credit for trying. In any event, Obama is overplaying his hand. If we go over the cliff and there is blame to go around, the President will have the most visibility. Boehner will be able to say he tried, and as much as the press will try to blame the conservatives / Tea Partiers in Congress, there is no single individual on whom they can focus.

In a worst-case scenario, the GOP can hold leadership elections in a year, and start with a mostly new slate. Meanwhile, Obama would be devoting all of his energy to these negotiations.

If a couple hundred billion is cut from defense and taxes are raised the deficit will go down in the short term. The dims/presstitutes will focus on that and blame all the bad economic stuff on the GOP.

How does one "forge a deal" when one goes to the negotiating table with NOTHING?

There is no downside for Obama when we go over the cliff...

He gets to raise revenue so not to crash against the debt ceiling

He gets to cut the military which he loathes....

He gets to blame republicans which might win him the house in 2014...

Even if there was a bill to sign.... Obama would not sign it.... Pick any pathetic reason you want....

We are going over...

Obama’s plan is the destruction of America.

Any path will do.

Sign nothing short of his full demands, or let Sequestration prevail?

He wins either way and will blame Republicans either way.

Jail is too good....
