Everyone in the liberal media and many here on FR (sad to say) have been blaming John Boehner...whereas HE has been the only leader on Capitol Hill who has been putting proposals together....

The blame is 95 percent on Obama and the Senate Democrats. Obama budgets...ZERO VOTES...he couldn’t even get his own party to vote for it. Senate Democrats have not passed a budget in 3-plus YEARS.

I'll give Boehner credit for trying. In any event, Obama is overplaying his hand. If we go over the cliff and there is blame to go around, the President will have the most visibility. Boehner will be able to say he tried, and as much as the press will try to blame the conservatives / Tea Partiers in Congress, there is no single individual on whom they can focus.

In a worst-case scenario, the GOP can hold leadership elections in a year, and start with a mostly new slate. Meanwhile, Obama would be devoting all of his energy to these negotiations.

Whoever offers a deal first opens himself up to attacks from the other side.

This is why the Dems never offer one. It will be so obvious that they offer garbage.

This is also why Obama is lying today by saying he didn't offer a deal to the Senate. He doesn't want it examined and the blame put on him by either the left or right.
