At the end of this year, I will retire from the United States Senate. As my twenty-four years in Congress draw to a close, I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your Senator. This has been an extraordinary privilege. During my career, I have always been inspired by the strength shown by people through even our darkest days; and this past Friday, December 14th, was certainly one of the darkest in Connecticuts history. But even in the wake of the terrible tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, we remain as united by our resolve to build a more perfect union as we are in our grief over the innocent lives that we lost in Newtown.
Over the years, I have benefited from your thoughts and concerns on important legislative policies and their impacts on Connecticut, in particular, and the nation, as a whole. I thank you for writing to me.
I am proud to have served on the Committees on Armed Services, Environment and Public Works, Small Business, and especially as Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Among my top priorities in the Senate has been to improve the health, safety, and economic well-being of our citizens, to preserve the freedoms that we all cherish, and to protect the beauty of our state and nations irreplaceable natural treasures.
Throughout my career in the Senate, I have worked to ensure sufficient federal funding for critical programs and services for the benefit of my constituents. In addition, I have fought on behalf of our men and women in uniform, our veterans, and our first responders, whose mission is the security of our homeland. For defending our freedom and safety, we certainly owe them our enormous gratitude and support.
As is custom, I had the privilege of delivering farewell remarks on the Senate floor last week. If you would like to view them, just click here.
Finally, I want to say that an active and engaged citizenry is essential to our democracy. I hope you will continue to stay in touch with your elected representatives in the future. Lifting your voice, and working together with those in Congress and in the Administration, you really can make a great difference.
I wish you every blessing in the days and years ahead.
Sincerely,
Joseph I. Lieberman UNITED STATES SENATOR
Later. Enjoy retirement. Although you were off the wall on some things, I must say that you stood by President Bush during Iraq War and for that I say “God Bless you”.
Halle-****ing-Leuah!!!!
Adios Schmuck!
and thank you for taking this opportunity to tell us all what a wonderful person you are, and about everything you have done for us, and how we should all be grateful to you, etc. etc. P.S. see post #1.
Yeah, he was a trouper. What troupe, sometimes, unclear. But a trouper nonetheless.
He must feel like the next target.
The man was a disaster. He was on the wrong side of all the critical cultural issues and history will record him as a decadent liberal Democrat. He did the nation no good and hurt the country badly.
Good riddance.
No democrat, living or dead, is or was a friend to the Constitution and the Republic. I have never bought into the idea that there is a good democrat.
FUBO & FAD
I, for one, will not miss this phony. So many times over the years, filks have been fooled into believing he was siding with Conservatives on some issue or another, only at the last minute to bail and to show his true colors when it came right down to it. BuhBye, PhoneyJoe.
AMF!
Why wait. Leave tonight.
Why wait. Leave tonight.
OK Calms down everybody... we dont need to spew hate here ALL the time....
He was a democrap, but as far as democraps go he at least was the rarest of the rare- an honest one.
He was wrong on so many things but so am I- he was not a lying hypocrite though. the closes he came was when following along with AlGore on things he previously had been against- but he said “HE’s the one running for Pres. not me- He would be MY boss” or words to that efvfect
” - - - Throughout my career in the Senate, I have worked to ensure sufficient federal funding - - - .”
Yup. That is why the number one problem in America is borrowing enough money to pay for what you over funded.
A HUGE Problem that is not being addressed
Bye Twinkie! Don’t let the door hit you on the head on the way out!
Get the **** out, Joe.
The man has it both ways in many regards. He just praised Obama and we know Obama does not respect Israel. Come on, this isn’t hate..let’s be real.
I’m glad I had the chance to thank Joe personally for his viewpoints and stance on Israel. The very stance that made his entire EAT HIM ALIVE.
That said his push for this sort of policy MUST be stopped, and I am very happy to hear he has decided to retire. I wish him a good, long retirement.
Finally, some good news to come out of today. I hope his replacement will be a reasonable individual, and more importantly - a Patriot.
screw you KAPO
Hey Joe, do you think you can take McLame with ya?? HUH?
Can we get a twofer for the Holidays??
Joe was the ultimate battered spouse, the dims always promised to be faithful to him and even after he got a separation he kept on coming back for more abuse at their hands.
At some point you just have stop blaming the abuser and have to start looking at the victim and wonder how they can be so co-dependent on someone who is so abusive to them.
Well at least this abusive relationship is at an end.
The Bet Din saw it quite differently. They did the closest thing we have to an excommunication to joe lieberman and have never rescinded it.
I agree 100% he is not my favorite senator either...
I just think we need to stop some of the “man what an a$$wipe that farginbastige” every time a name ios mentioned
We are not Democrap Underground, after all
Lieberman was always a strong supporter of our military. He does deserve recognition for that.
Opus one.
I admire him for making this statement in his farewell: “And I apologize for pretending to support the American Military and Israel while continuously supporting a party that despised both”. Oh wait. He didn’t. And I don’t.
Not familiar with this publication. But, this is hysterical:

Good riddens to a man that lied to the Bishops here in Ct about abortion and the same man who tried to disenfranchise military votes in florida in an effort to get Mount Climate Change elected POTUS.
If there is a better way for me to alert the mods, please do it, or PM me after I'm done scanning for viruses.
Thanks!
But the original link I listed is fine. And funny.
Good By Joe, You gotta go, Me oh my oh.
Karma for visiting lefties?
Oh, that other page I linked to was a lefty also. But the bit on Lieberman was actually funny.
I wish he would take McCain with him.
You alone, saved our republic, Joe, O pious NE liberal you.
He is fully liberal but sometimes was in denial. He must have hated “voting for” Palin over Biden in 2008.
Good thinking. Remember, how he “chastized” their “bill” after Monica, but apparentley he didn’t really mean a word of it. I would think though that he could be the patron saint of CT.
As a struggling candidate, he took a poll and found there were lotsa votes for a candidate who was pro-life---his opponent Weickert was avidly pro-abort.
Lieberman met with all the RTL constiuencies, the Bishop, clergy, and swore he was pro life.
He was elected---and the minute he landed in Congress he votes for radical pro-abort issues----even voting multiple times for infanticide (partial birth abortions.)
NTL Right to Life has the whole sordid story----all his fatuous promises, and how he conveniently forgot all that he promised once he had duped them all into voting for him.
