(CNSNews.com) - Conservative leaders don't like what they're hearing from House Speaker John Boehner, the man in the middle of fiscal cliff negotiations.
One day after Boehner mentioned an $800-billion tax hike -- half the amount President Obama is seeking -- conservative activist L. Brent Bozell III said the Republican Party is no longer the party of limited government, limited spending and limited taxes:
"It is now officially exactly right behind the Democrats -- on everything," Bozell said. "It is time for conservatives to start looking for a new home. There's precious little left for us here."
Bozell said it's no coincidence that just before releasing his proposal, Boehner orchestrated a purge of conservatives from key positions of power in the Republican Conference.

Has anyone told Boner that 800 billion was exactly what Obama asked for during the election? Geithner doubled everything ( top 2%, 160 billion tax hike, etc) on Sunday. Does Boner have ANY negotiation skills???

Exactly right. Every conservative needs to re-register as a Democrat and work to elect conservative candidates in Democrat primaries.

I realized this back when George W Bush had both Housess of Congress and the GOP did not do one thing to reduce government, stop[ deficit spending, revise the tax code, halt illegal immigration , etc. I recall commenting, upon hearing of yet another government beauracracy, Homeland Security, that I do not have a party anymore...and I probably never did.

You either make the republican party more conservative or nothing. A third party won’t do anything. And while our house leader isn’t good, I don’t think ANYONE will like the debt deal or lack thereof. This divide and conquer tactic on us is working apparently...because some folks on here think you can just make a conservative party and naturally win all elected office....dream on. We have to find a way to gather a majority conservative party and republican lite party together or we’re just a losing party all the way.
The GOP is the Judenrat to the MarxoFascists in power. Anyone who doesn't see and understand that is hopelessly lost to a virulent form of cognitive dissonance - the one that holds on and deliberately ignores the truth because it's too painful to accept.

Yes to both of your questions, unfortunately the leadership in both these parties is a little strange. I checked them both out when I wanted to re-register and their appeal is pretty limited. Of course I am some where to the right of Attila the Hun. Ronald Reagan has been the only President I have ever taken pride in voting for in the last 50 years.

Its time for tough love and time to take down the RINOs. They gave us Romney and Romney gave us 4 more years of Obama and now Boner and McConnell are going to give us four more years of Boner and McConnell.

If the R-conservatives were smart, they would coalesce and tell Boehner — hey, you wanna be speaker next year? Then reappoint those you just dumped. Otherwise, WE are helping the Dems re-seat Pelosi.

Long past time. I have very little in common with the thinking of those who are generally known as leaders of the Republican Party.
If more conservatives had refused to vote for Romney, the GOP might be less likely to nominate another liberal in 2016. The fact that Romney got so many votes probably pushed the conservative movement back four years.

I suggest you need a different perspective. The republicans and a new conservative party SHOULD fight for dominance in our two-party system. Will that enable a democrat president in 2016? Obviously it will. But the last time the republicans had power, they pissed it away trying to buy votes and expanded the govt at a then, unheard of pace. With the exception of the judicial branch, I fail to see the downside in having this fight. Screw the republicans: They obviously don't care that much about smaller government so adios. I was willing to go along with them, and yet another lame candidate, one more time because I was of the belief of anyone but Barrack Obama. Well, that fight is over and we lost. In fact republicans have lost five out of the last six popular votes for president. They don't just insult conservatives, but when it comes right down to it, they (moderate republicans) are lousy politicians.
Is there any reason to suspect things won't continue as they have? Last I read, Bohner has cemented his cronies in the house and has punished some conservatives for not bending over when he told them to cave. When my values are treated with contempt more than the opposition party, I think its time to move on. I will support with money and time a new conservative party dedicated to smaller govenment, liberty, adherence to the original intent of the US constition and of returning power to the states. And assuming such a party forms, I will by necessity, oppose the Republican party as strongly as I know how.
We need to dominate the republican party in such a fight and make them go the way of the Whigs. Then, and only then, can we start to try to implement our agenda.

The parties have continued to march left...the democrats are now communists, and the republicans are now what dems used to be...we need a party for conservatives. I still like the platform of the Constitution Party.
Why now? Nothing has changed in the last 4 years, or 20 years for that matter.

The bottom line for a GOP Presidental candidate is don’t lie to your base
and u won’t have to worry about a third party candidate picking off enough

I disagree. I think the Tea Party message, if it gets out and takes on the media spin firmly, would draw a LARGE portion of the 30% of registered who do NOT vote, AND a decent proportion of the 35% of eligible voters who do not even register to vote.
LESS government intervention, LOWER taxes for all, fiscal responsibility, and Equal Liberty for all... ALL of those resonate very well with those on the Left and Right and moderates AND non-voters. I think it gets back to a dead heat with the Taker Party within a single election.
So how about Sarah Palin taking Armey’s spot at FreedomWorks and leading the gradual development of the GOP’s replacement?
For 2014, I’d suggest getting the tea party on the ballot in states like CT and NY that allow candidates to be listed on multiple party lines. By 2016 I’d like to see the tea party with a nationwide structure and a pre-primary national convention by which the party selects its GOP candidate to back through the primaries—this is the GOP’s absolutely last chance!. If that process ends up working (and I’d hope Palin would be the candidate they’d end up supporting), then fine. If not, I want to see the party on the ballot in all 50 states by 2018, and winning the presidency in 2020.
