I have seen the many on Facebook that seem hesitant to sign the petitions on the Whitehouse.gov site, afraid they could be targeted. Here’s a hint clue...you are already a target. This White House in collusion with Google maps has a nice little flag on your house, either red or blue, and even if you’re not registered to vote and your house has no flag, they know you did not support The One with your vote! Raise your voice, do not let intimidation silence you.

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

18 USC § 2385 - Advocating overthrow of Government
Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or
Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or
Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof—
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.
If two or more persons conspire to commit any offense named in this section, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

Why a) would I voluntarily put myself on Obama's "kill later" list, and b) would I ask executive branch permission for something that is not in their constitutional purview to grant?

Listen, I love the idea of state secession as much as any patriot. But this ISN'T the way to go about it.

Best way to go about it is to get your state to resist ANY and EVERY mandate out of this illegitimate federal government. Get your state's congress and governor to say, "SCREW YOU, OBAMA!" when told they will shut down power plants or implement Obamacare. Secede from this federal government, NOT the union itself. Less blood that way. At the beginning, at least.

No - he (and the other signers of the DOI) told the king “We’re out of here, and you can go to the Nether Regions”.

i just looked at the White House site. There are 32 such petitions. That’s 64% of the country as it is now constituted. That is something the is HUGH and SERIES!

Succession, it won’t come easily. They won’t just give it to us. And to negotiate it ...well they will want to give us 75% of the debt since we never paid our fair share.

Those who would want to move to a free state would have to leave all their wealth behind as well. Just like a refugee would...are you really ready to put your family through that? Are you ready to do that? Thousands did it a little over 200 years ago.

It’s a good way to protest and get attention.

I for one would not think of getting attention by signing such a petition, as many have said, those signing could be put on some undesirable list.

I did review one of the first petitions, I believe Louisiana, and most signatures at that time were not from Louisiana. I cannot see how signatures from say CA, NY, MT or whatever validates a Louisiana petition.

And as another poster said, the White House does not have authority to grant secession. The Civil War era I believe each individual state held a convention or referendum where the people of that state approved succession and drafted a document accordingly and succeeded without anyone’s permission.

I’m sorry, but the decision to secede doesn’t need presidential approval! These petitions are stupid. Let’s just do it people. Start a tax revolt in this country that starves the beast of its blood.

The Soviet constitution expressly allowed the constituent republics to secede. The Baltic states made noises about actually doing so and were - big surprise - occupied by Soviet military forces and sat on pretty hard.

The mutterings did signal a wind change however. Just a few years later the Soviet Union was too bankrupt and unpopular to get the troops out of barracks and keep the Soviet Union alive. Dissolution along natural cultural, historical and ethnic lines followed. The Soviet Union is no more, and on balance after some shock the people of the former Soviet Union are for the most part better off with the death of the overly centralized and restrictive Soviet government.

The United States is not -yet- destitute enough for this to happen, but one can see it from here. In the mean time, there is no doubt that the federal government can and will cheerfully extirpate anyone they wish who presents any dissent they are not willing to indulge. Demonstrating that will and ability was the point of the exercises at Ruby Ridge under a Republican President and Waco under a Democrat President. Presently, like the Soviets in the mid 1980s, the federal can and would ‘send in the troops’ That will not always be the case, however.

For some the United States is sacrosanct and is effectively a god, like Roma. This is ironic given the position of the Founding Fathers who did not make a fetish or cult of a dead and counterproductive system. Their perspective was timeless:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

Anyway, on this day during this year, secession or dissolution is going nowhere.

Anyone who thinks this has any chance at all to be successful needs to have a serious reality check. It will never happen, and it just makes those advocating it look like fools.

As much as I don’t like the outcome of the election, I’m not ready to give up on America yet.

Anyone who wants states to leave our nation had better take a long look in the mirror. How dare you disrespect the sacrifices of our fallen veterans who gave their lives for America. And you call yourselves Patriots...I would use a different term...Quitters.

This topic seems to be drawing out old anti-birther types, I wonder if the Obama trolls are worried it may gain traction?

What would Obama fear the most in his strategy plan of converting America to a socialist state?

Not having the workers paradise all worshipping him for starters, not any reliable fear of the Feds and the unrest of his most devout followers that illegally re-elected him for more freebies, union dues and bailouts.

I have seen on even obscure forums some eventual discussion of states asking to leave the Republic and always somebody gets all panicky. I love the smell of panic in the morning wafting across the fields of grain, along with the chorus of the inner city crying for more makers to give them more free stuff.

Well I say lets sign all day long just for shits and giggles. And then we become men of action.
