Free Republic Media Watchers Target NBCNews
self | 11/11/12 | Chiller

Posted on 11/11/2012 8:23:40 AM PST by chiller

Most all of us agree Main Stream Media (MSM, Old Media, the Alphabets....) was a factor in this cycle. It began with WH shill George Stephanopolous' planted debate question to Romney about contraception, and continued through the ignored tragedies in the wake of Sandy on Staten and Long Islands that Obama had supposedly healed with his 2 hour visit. Our goal is to hasten MSM demise by concentrating our efforts. Please join us.

It's difficult to turn off ALL media all the time, so let's agree to one at a time. NBC News programs are my suggestion and consensus choice of our Sunday Morning News Show thread. They're all bad, but NBC News seems the worst offender. )

We will have an affect if we concentrate our efforts rather than dilute the effort over the huge spectrum of TV News.)

We know NBC/MSNBC's ratings are weak and getting weaker across the various platforms, perhaps even extending beyond news. My goal, our goal, is to put them out of business with a final killing financial shiv. Old media proved they're not quite dead...yet. I say kill 'em.)

Start today by avoiding NBC News programs. Spend those minutes and hours elsewhere, even if it's one of the other alphabets to get the mainstream spin. (Remember fundamentals; one at a time)

The sentiments of hundreds of us on this thread are likely shared by a good portion of the FR nation. And certainly another 47% of the country share some or all of our sentiments. Simply ignore NBC News. They're irrelevant.)

Step one; A noticeable loss of numbers for NBC News will add up and be noticed. Cable and satellite digital companies certainly know who's watching what, when. If they know, advertisers know.

Lost viewership = lost impressions to advertisements = reduced sales of advertised products = loss of sponsors.

I'm hesitant to boycott commercial enterprises (the companies that advertise), but they must know they'll be wasting their money on a huge portion of their audience if they advertise on NBC News.

We'll not be exposed to your ads, and if we are, we sure as hell won't patronize them. Something's got to change. We'll start here and now.

Bump it. Let's get some attention, so that when ratings fall, they know why.

You need to get this going on ‘twitter’ .... that’s how the Rush ‘boycott’ got so much attention, it went viral on twitter. If that happens, the NBC folks will be aware of it. I don’t ‘twitter’ or I’d work on it. Maybe you could get something going through Michelle Malkins ‘twichy’ site (?) .... http://twitchy.com/

I haven’t watched the network news programs for twenty years.

They’re a complete waste of time.

The news whores don’t make sense.

The Democrats don’t make sense.

The Republicans on them supposedly spouting my point of view, generally don’t make sense.

Why bother watching that tripe?

Why boycott? Just post or send out via FReepmail a list of advertisers whom FReepers can contact and express their displeasure at NBC without necessarily threatening to boycott the product.

Just a simple,

Dear Mr. CEO
I have removed access to NBC from my TV, so I won't be able to take advantage of the information on your wonderful product that is advertised there. Please direct me to another network on which you are advertising your product.

Thank you

Former NBC viewer.

The lame stream media was a “factor” in Obama’s squeak?
Yeah, like the iceberg was a “factor” for the Titanic.
Starve the MSM beast!

I practice this but on a broad scale.
Don’t watch NBC, ABS, CBS for anything whatsoever other
than a pro or college football game I want to see, nothing else.
NO MSNBC, Chrissy Mathews, Maddow, Schultz, Maher, Steffy, etc. Just click on through them to something I want to watch.
Refuse to reward them points with viewing.
Time Mag, Newsweek, canceled them years ago and never looked back.
It’s the old Michael Moore routine, “you have to buy a ticket to my movie”. Yeah right, never have, never will,
even on free cable.

I don’t twitter either, MM. And probably don’t have time for it, frankly. Perhaps we can ask for help from others.

The problem is not a MSM shill asking gotcha questions, it's the idiot republicans falling for it. Whatever you think of newt, his smackdowm of the MSMwhore at the beginning of that debate was superb. Now, not every reply to those questions needs to be such a body slam. It can be short and sweet. When some libhole asks about contraceptives or abortion or whatever, the answer needs to be along the lines of ' what does this have to do with 40 million people on food stamps?' Or...' There are 20 million people unemployed, do you really think this is the most important issue to these people?'

but no...the replican fool usually walks right into the trap and says ' thank you sir! May I have another?'

We haven’t watched NBC News or any other network news in years, so I don’t know that this will be successful unless you can cut off the nursing home TV sets.

The advertisers!

That's what will REALLY worry NBC. Good idea!

NBC wont fear boycotts... boycotting the sponcers.. that's another story.

You have to target the advertisers to make it work. That’s when NBC will blink.

We need an RNC Chair who will go to the networks and tell them if you want to interview any of our guys, here are the ground rules, and if you don’t agree, we won’t have any of them on your program, time to start playing hardball with the media.

Since many of us have cable - in reality how many of us on here actually watch NBC news to begin with? I flip between Fox and CNN. Fox got me a little ticked with some of their so called experts (Rove, Barone, Morris (gag), etc) were pretty off. Rove was the closest. Wasting energy on “boycotting” NBC and/or others might be better steared in contacting your Senator and/or Congressman/women (particularly if they are up for re-election in 2014 in tight races) to ask them questions. The election is over and Obama now has nothing to lose and the Senate (with some of the moderates like Kirk, Collins, etc) appear to be fillibuster proof so a lot is going to be on the House.
