Christie rejects blame for Romney's loss, looks forward ó maybe to '16

"As a party, we have to look forward to what our challenges are in the future," Christie said. "This election is over. So we have to look forward to the next challenges."

As the party figures out how to attract Hispanics, women and young people, Republicans may look toward Christie as a frontrunner for the 2016 nomination. He leads a blue and diverse state, walks the walk on bipartisanship and could steer the party away from the far right.

He better run as a Inde or Dem because as far as ever running for Pres as a Repub, he’s toast.

Christie has a better chance of dying of a heart attack by 2016 than having a shot in hell for the nomination.

Why do they keep trying this same used up tactic? Wasn’t Romney from a blue state that reached across the isle? Wasn’t he the grandfather of Obamacare? The stupidity of the washed out Old Boys Rupublican Club is beyond belief.

The guy we ran this time wasn't really a Republican and he didn't really win the primary votes.

If we can dump the 15% who are GOP-e voters, and their masters, we won't ever have to talk about Christie again.

He’s done in national conservative politics, and he likely knows it. Got nothing for propping up Obama.

Every single time a conservative tries to cosy up to liberals, they end up taking it in the keister.

agreed.. this was one of the single worst acts against America, from this last election cycle.

I am suspicious that he was coerced into it for FEMA dollars for his state, but that does not excuse this act of treachery.

He did this to America because he is a self-serving SOB. Reminds me very much of something the maverick John McCain would have done.

I loathe the two of them.

I said the day after the 2008 election that Romney would be the nominee in 2012.

If Christie wants it, he will be the nominee in 2016—and he will lose because he is Romney/McCain + 100 lbs.

I will be very surprised if he’s still in office by the end of next year. The GOP may primary him and, even if they don’t, his new democrat party “pals” will certainly run someone against him. In a state that blue he’s toast. Just look at Scott Brown.

What gets me, is that he could have had Obama looking like a fool. For one thing, Obama did nothing, and the people in NJ were suffering. At the very least he could have refused to be seen with him....or any other options in between. Instead he schmoozed the guy.

Hey, Ann Coulter...you really know how to pick them. Can’t wait to read your article tomorrow, where I’m sure you’ll not put one ounce of blame on fat man.

The fat man showed that he is overwhelmed by critical siuations. He, the keynoter, said basically that he did not give a hoot about the election while he was on his knees kissing Bam’s butt. When he got to speak to Bruce Springsteen, who was in flight with Bam, Christie was so emotional he went home and cried. We need him like a hole in the head and hopefully he doesn’t get reelected.

Not all Republicans are conservatives. That's how Romney became the nominee. But most Republicans, even non-conservatives, understand the need to not undermine your guy in the midst of an election. Christie will be lucky to win re-election in 2013 - he won by less than 4% in 2009. Imagine if Republicans stay home to protest his destruction of Romney's campaign. There's no way he wins the nomination in 2016. I can't imagine that the Super PAC donors who shelled out hundreds of millions on Romney only to be torpedoed by Christie as going to look kindly on a Christie run.
