Activists to Romney: Why Aren't You Beating Obama?

WASHINGTON - Republican activists are incredulous: Why can't Republican Mitt Romney seem to break open a tight race with President Barack Obama given the nation's sluggish economy and conservative enthusiasm to beat the Democrat?

"He ought to be killing Obama, and he's clearly not doing that," said 32-year-old R.J. Robinson, one of the thousands of activists attending the annual Values Voters Summit this weekend. "He should be doing better."

I am all for voting in Conservatives to Congress, and Pray to God it happens, but the reality is whatever happens the next POTUS will not be impeached.

That's just nonsense to even strive for that....though it would be a nice outcome ;)

Ryan is quite popular. My Obama-supporting clueless “independent” friend has a mad crush on Paul Ryan. She’s undecided right now. If Romney was smart, he’d keep Ryan front and center as much as possible. He appeals to the Gen X and Y and female vote.

Neither of these candidates will be good for America. Let's vote in conservative senators and congressmen and then impeach whichever anti-life, anti-gun, pro homosexualist, anti-constitutionalist, socialist jerk wins this election.

that's what you answered to a FR that asked whose side you're on - as you're discouraging people from even voting for Romney.

Let O'bumbles keep the WH and THEN impeach him? What corner of la la land are you squatting in?

do you not know that if he gets back in, along with is AG, Holder, there will BE no more elections, no actions taken against him. All he has to do is sign another EO and Martial Law reigns while he solidifies his throne.

Think you can 'impeach" a dictator? Not in YOUR lifetime.

I like your attitude, it is one that is hard to keep up with all of the negativism around here.

Your screen name suits you well, did you eve see the movie by the same name?

It seems to me there are fewer and fewer voters every election cycle who actually will decide the outcome. Both parties have about 48% of the electorate either sown up or leaning in their direction so that an anybody but (fill in the blank) strategy works most of the time.

The problem for the GOP this time is they nominated a candidate that is impossible for that 2% on either side to support for whatever reason...

I strongly disagree.

Get the popular candidate out there.

Not Romney, he’s the financing. Ryan is the message.

So, if we read your tag line right, you’re part of that 2% you say won’t vote for R/R?

If so, YOU are a big part of the problem

Not ‘flaming, shaming. blaming’ - just stating the fact.

Name one thing Romney has done since he got the nomination that makes you want to vote FOR him. Name one position he has taken that is consistent with the conservatism that is at the heart of this forum?

He grabbed the nomination by pretending to be a "severe conservative" and since he got the nomination he has turned hard left. Are you ready for 8 more years of the left wing agenda being foisted on our nation (only this time from the Republican Party)?

If Romney wins he will continue the socialist policies that got us into this mess and when the depression hits the fan, the the Republicans will be blamed. Then in 4 years we will get a Democrat like FDR who will lead us through the depression until the next world war.

Well, it will be a comfort to know that while we are watching the Country go down in flame we can just simply blame the dastardly GOP for putting Romney up as our candidate.

Stay home, at least we can show the GOP just how much we despise them as the obama goons are kicking down our doors.

Do you think you are helping matters with this approach? There are a lot of Christians at FR who are voting for a Mormon, because he happens to be the guy running against the gay Muslim. I, for one, think Romney, even with the baggage of Mormonism, is a much better man than Obama. Likewise, even with his statist and PC tendencies, Romney is more competent, intelligent and capable as a leader. His choice of Ryan for VP shows he isn’t afraid of having competent, energetic people around him. Obama chooses people like Biden, and we know what attracts Obama to old white men. He chooses bathhouse buddies like Rahm and control freaks like Valerie Jarrett, who was so corrupt she was forced out of the Daley Administration in Chicago.

A lot of us will vote for you because of who you oppose, but you’re just not very popular. Never have been.

That really is it. I think the lack of excitement is making it hard for Romney to break out anywhere. There is just no electricity. The Ryan pick put a spring in things for awhile, but the campaign is right back to just trying not to make a mistake. Most of us here will vote for him - but like you said, only because of who he opposes. No one is truly excited to hear him speak, he doesn't seem to really talk about anything with conviction, etc. These are all the reasons pretty much all of us here knew he'd be a weak nominee - unfortunately, the field was just very weak this time out.

Get Ryan out front and center. Now.

At least get his ideas out front and center. When Ryan was picked I think conservatives got the idea this campaign would suddenly be about something more than just beating Obama. It added some excitement. That spark has died as Romney went right back to being Mr. Cautious.

This campaign season should have been so exciting, and it's just not. Obama is out of ideas and is just running a highly negative campaign to stay in office. But the challenger, Romney, has been a giant dose of boring mush so far. The mush can win I guess, but it would be a lot better if Romney would at least try to fire up the conservative base and give people a few reasons they can actually remember to vote for him (rather than just against Obama).

Right you are. Conservatives will pay for another generation or two for their hidebound inability to suss or counteract the takeover of popular culture by the 60’s counterculture. It was a revolution in national attitudes that we didn’t see coming, didn’t know what it was when it was upon us and still only piss and moan about while we pray to God that enough employed Americans commute to work every day to give talk radio an effective audience share and pray to God that Rupert Murdoch’s Arabian owners don’t pull the plug on News Corp. Without them, game over.

Sadly, conservatives still don’t even know what “popular culture” is, certainly not the leadership cadres or they would be encouraging every mother’s son and daughter to go into show business. Blindness never pays, never.

Not one freakin thing, I despise the man and I despise the elitist who foisted him on us and the fact he puts me in a position that I have to even consider giving him my vote....just as they did with mcLame.

If Romney wins he will continue the socialist policies that got us into this mess and when the depression hits the fan, the the Republicans will be blamed.

Not if we get the Conservative Congress that you are striving for. That imo is our only chance though it is a slim one.

With obama we have NO chance. I'll take a slim chance over no chance any day of the week.

So, why do you have to ping you anti Romney zealots for support?

Is this something you can't handle on your own?

Maybe you should call out the anti Mormon brigade too, just in case.

Do you need the list?

You read it correctly congratulations.

I'm not the problem the problem is that the GOP has a liberal at the top of the ticket who cant attract conservative voters.

If Romney continues to be a man of small ideas he will continue to go nowhere. He offers nothing but dependence on criticism, currently foreign policy. Just compare him to Eisenhower going to Korea, Nixon to China and Reagan with Gorbachev. If Romney thinks foreign policy is the problem, then he should offer to meet them face to face and maybe win the election. Romney is uninspiring, he lacks the ‘vision thing’.

Sarah and Gov. Walker are perfect examples of what we and Romney MUST do to win this propaganda war of the left...give the facts with quick soundbites that MSM can and will try and politicize, but cannot refute. Then, stick by these statements and repeatedly ask, Can you refute what (Romney/Ryan/conservative candidate) has said? Call the MSM out...just like Sarah does and how Bibi did to Candyazz Crowley.

It came out in the early 90's with Dustin Hoffman and Andy Garcia. It really is a good flick and worth seeing if you ever get the chance.

Because a certain segment of “Conservative” would rather ignore all positive news and polling in order to cling to massively biased media polls that validate their knee jerk doom and gloom emotional opinions
