Jeb Bush gave an impassioned endorsement of fellow Floridian Marco Rubio, advising Mitt Romney to pick him as his running mate and describing him as the most articulate conservative elected official on the scene today, and even spoke of the great pride he has for the U.S. senator from his home state.
Marco Rubio is my favorite [choice], because we have a close relationship, the former Florida governor told Charlie Rose in an interview that aired on his PBS show Thursday evening. I admire him greatly He speaks with great passion about American exceptionalism. I think he would lift the spirits of the campaign and provide some energy. Governor Romney is running a very good campaign right now and closed the gap and leading in some polls, but I think this would be an added bonus.
In the wide ranging hour long interview that aired in parts Thursday morning on CBS This Morning and then in its entirety Thursday evening on PBS, Bush said Rubio has had enough preparation to be one heartbeat away from the presidency despite being a first term senator.
Look he has more experience than Barack Obama had when he ran, Bush said. And the practical experience hes certainly got the intelligent acumen and fortitude to be a good president and I have a special place in my heart for him. Its hard to describe the pride I have for his incredible success and how he has moved in to the job of being a U.S. senator with humility, not trying to be an arrogant guy, to learn the trade if you will. And people in Washington really admire him.

Shut. Up. RINO. Go Away.
I hope that he isn't inclined to accept if Romney offers. He has his own path to greatness.
actually Rubio is not as bad as Mittens....
and it is a smart political move....a florida born, Cuban Hispanic...he could give the party a strong Hispanic vote this november....
let it be known I am NOT hispanic(though my 2 nieces and a nephew are 1/2 hispanic) dispite my name....Vaquero is what I shoot...Cowboy(the translation) is what I aspire to at the range.
Two wrongs do n ot make a right. Not eligible. Next.
Stay out da Bushes. Two was enough. More than enough.
As much as I like Rubio, because his parents were not citizens until after he was born, he has the same disqualification as Obama does to be president. Neither satisfy the “natural born” clause.
Jeb was a good governor but now acts primarily as a weather vane.
Seriously, if Jeb picks Rubio, you pretty much know the direction NOT to go.
Stay out da Bushes.

OH MY GOD!!! I cannot believe that a FReeper is quoting Jesse Jackson to validate his point.
Two wrongs do n ot make a right. Not eligible. Next. Stay out da Bushes. Two was enough. More than enough.Agreed, and agreed.
I really wish Rubio would man up and put a stop to all this speculation with a simple statement, "I am not eligible, period."
And I wish every Bush would STFU.
Why not? Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.
Jesse was right when he said it, and it still holds true.
Terry Schiavo agrees.
obama created precedent for future president. All you need is to be born in the US. If they disqualify Rubio, then they automatically disqualify every law obama passed. I highly doubt that will happen, so rubio is safe to run
The Bushes need to go away and not return.
the Rubio camp DOES know he isn’t eligible as i spent 15 minutes on the phone talking with a staffer explaining, in excruciatingly plain language, that anyone having one or more foreign citizen parents at birth is a citizen... but CANNOT be a natural born citizen as they can also be a citizen of another country
the term, natural born citizen, means someone is a citizen NATURALLY ... as there are no alternatives.
this is a very simple concept ... that has been in use since long before the founders used it in the Constitution
additionally, the Rubio camp could reject any such offer... and follow it up with a ‘teachable’ moment to explain on a national stage the simplistic reason why he cannot accept any such honor
in so doing, he would show that upholding the Constitution (ie: the foundation of all law in the US) is the utmost priority in a nation of laws
I really don’t care what Jeb Bush has to say.
We have had enough Bush’s.
Especially enough Barbara Bush.
Besides the birth issue, Rubio is a moron and can’t take care of his own finances, much less the countries. Hell, his home was foreclosed on and has a negative net worth. His credit is worse than mine..
Rubio is planning to grant himself amnesty. That’s how he rolls.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Who to pick ???
Obama whose father was born in another country and not a naturalized American citizen when he was born...
Or Romney whose father was born in another country and not a naturalized American citizen when he was born...
and Rubio whose father was born in another country and not a naturalized American citizen when he was born...
Does TWO non-citizen fathers hold more weight ???
Is that closer to an NBC ???
My, my. Aren’t we cranky bright and early this morning. Did you guys wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning or did you just not get any last night? Get rid of the tension.
Both...
Do you have a source to substantiate your claims and accusations? Not being ugly. I’d sincerely like to see it if you have it.
Birthers chasing their collective tails again...
For me, the natural born citizen is the least concern--although he, like any candidate, should be fully vetted. The question of natural born citizen should be a valid concern, otherwise we'll start getting RINOs tossing up trial balloons for the likes of Ahnohld.
They (Birthers) have become an embarrassment haven’t they Eric? Rubio, Jindal and Romney were all born on U.S. soil. They need to spend their energy and efforts helping Sheriff Joe and Donald Trump go after the Kenyan Marxist in the White House. Bring him down, then any other “ineligibles” will fall like a house of cards; that simple.
There are many sources. I just grabbed one. Im not awake yet...

I recall hearing Rubio for the first time in one of the FL debates against Christie. He was impressive.
However ....
#1 he is a Senator. Senators do no make good executives. Especially when ... [see #2]
#2 he has too little political or executive experience.
We already have two novices without executive experience in the WH. Neither the presidency nor the vice presidency should be OJT positions.
Get experience. Then run for office. Not the other way around.
Every time there’s a Rubio thread, the “natural born citizen” clown car shows up within minutes and they all spill out. It’s a fact of life here.
Perhaps more credible and easier on the eyes..

Irregardless, so you say we now adopt illegal stances as part of the conservative move to retake our country? Hogwash! Fall into their trap and we will be forever stained with what the Democrats have become.
Take the high road. Rubio is smart to downplay his perceived acceptance by not putting a definitive end to it. He knows he is far more important as a member of the Senate for his state than he would be if he were to actually entertain the VP idea. By keeping it in play he raises his stature in the Party as well as his future power to drive legislation that a friendly White House would be inclined to support.
Besides, we finally have a good Senator from this state, why open the door for the chance of another RINO weaseling its way in. I say get rid of beady-eyes Nelson and build a conservative base in Florida with Rubio as the model. Some complain about perceived co-opting in some policy statements, but they cannot disagree he is far better than Le Mieux (sp) or the inspiring /sarc McCollum.
“Jeb was a really good Governor for Florida, he really was.”
Terri Schiavo.
They need to check for a boogieman under their bed.
“Stay out da Bushes. Two was enough.”
There have been 3 Presidents in that family tree. Barbara Bush is the grandaughter of a US President.
IF Rubio was the Statesman many here wish him to be, this is the first thing he would say to each and every VP question.
Instead, he teases like a teenager who enjoys the attention.
Typical rino. All talk, no integrity.
“1. Obama’s mother was a American Citizen and he was born in Hawaii.”
Bravo Sierra to that hackneyed argument.
There are three good reasons Bush lost the base in ‘92, which is why Bush lost that election.
1. The base knew instinctively stopping short and leaving Saddam in power was a huge mistake that would lead to another war.
2. “Read My Lips...NO NEW TAXES!
3. Caving in to the LA rioters and re-prosecuting after a jury found the LEOs not guilty - then Ruby Ridge.
But these errors cannot be acknowledged, so the myth of Ross Perot causing Bush that election is always maintained.
Here is the 1992 election analysis of the numbers as they pertain to the charge that the Clintons are Perot’s fault:

Barbara is Jenna’s sister. She has no say. What’s your point??
“I highly doubt that will happen, so rubio is safe to run.”
That’s not the question or answer.
Article II of the Constitution was written to protect the US from those that may not have the best interests of the US at heart. Rubio is safe????? The Founders would wonder if the Republic was safe.
Glad that's settled.
Did you sign up on FR specifically to pitch Marco Rubio?
Just curious when is SOCTUS going to rule on whether Obama, or Romney meets the requirements granted in the Constitution?
Everyone here claims this is a slam dunk. Well? Is it? You would think after 3 years this would have gotten on the docket, especially when the most important election in our nations history is taking place in 5 months.
Did you sign up on FR specifically to pitch Marco Rubio?
______________________________________________________________
Why, hell yeah!!! Who, or what, are you pitching on here besides a lot of bulls**t?
“Or Romney whose father was born in another country and not a naturalized American citizen when he was born...”
This is the kind of dribble that gives the “birthers,” I prefer to call us Constitutionalists, a bad name. Romney’s father was born in Mexico to American citizen parents. That makes Mitt’s father a citizen at birth, not a Natural Born Citizen, but someone that does not need to be naturalized to be a citizen..... a born citizen.
Mitt qualifies as an NBC because he was born in the US to citizen parents. There is no need for Mitt’s parents to be NBCs for Mitt to be an NBC. Your post in this area is pure uninformed nonsense.
Note: I have not supported Romney for President. I will vote, but my vote will be against Obama, rather than for Romney. ( I understand that it will be counted the same as if I had voted for Romney...leave me to my illuslsions) My word of advice??? Get as many solid Conservatives as possible elected to the Congress to hold Romney’s feet to the fire. I do not trust the man to lead the US in any sort of a conservative manner, much less Conservative manner.
A little froggy for someone who's been here a little over a month.
Try to tone down the vulgarity, ok junior?
My, my. Arent we cranky bright and early this morning. Did you guys wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning or did you just not get any last night? Get rid of the tension.Question for you:
Is Rubio eligible to be President of the United States?
The establishment has too much at stake to suddenly find their conscience now.
