Santorum Shows Lying is a Necessary Habit He Employs to Get Ahead.
Yakima Conservative Examiner ^ | March 19, 2012 | Kara L. Kraemer

The media is smearing Gingrich right and left while going relatively light on Santorum.

We don't know who he is, we haven't examined his record thoroughly, we blindly believe in faith the statements he as a Christian family man uses to make a quick point, and he is the last one standing to experience the negative carpet bombing from Mitt Romney.

Not as compelling as a side-by-side of all the things that Newt has said, which Santorum has stolen and used as his own, but it provides some food for thought, and some excellent links. TIME TO VET RICK.

I’d like to know how Mr Santorum has supported himself and his large family since his Senate re-election defeat, and how has he afforded to live in a pricey D.C, suburb, instead of toiling at a minimum wage in a steel mill in Pittsburgh, where he claims his roots lie. It’s an honest question, and why is it that his supporters are not asking it? We know Newt’s and Mitt’s sources of income, why don’t we know this steel mill town boy’s?

GO NEWT!

February 22nd in Arizona. However, they had the Huckabee forum in March and the forum that Santorum and Newt participated in Alabama. Don’t you think enough is enough. Everyone knows what Newt is for and just are not interested in him for whatever reason. There are a small group of supporters of his on here but you need a heck of a lot more than that. This entire primary is a disaster not because of Newt or anyone really. It is the way that the GOP set it up after the 2008 primary. If you think we are going to the convention, I doubt it. I think Paul is going to give his delegates to Romney and put him over the magic 1140 number. HORRIBLE!!!!

Even though I have seen many threads from The Examiner, and not one comment like yours, here is the post in full... I am sure you will want to openmindedly read and consider its contents :)

EXAMINER POST:

Most of us do not yet know who Santorum really is and yet he is the leading conservative candidate in this primary.
How can that be? Precisely for the very reason stated above. We don’t know who he is, we haven’t examined his record thoroughly, we blindly believe in faith the statements he as a Christian family man uses to make a quick point, and he is the last one standing to experience the negative carpet bombing from Mitt Romney. Not to worry, though, as he assures us,

“Ha! You look at my record. I’ve been as much of a reformer, and someone who has been able to shake things up both from the inside and the outside better than anybody else.”

Source:
http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-01-26/santorum-lobbyist-meetings-part-of-insider-history-he-rejects.htmlalk about grandiose.

The media is smearing Gingrich right and left while going relatively light on Santorum.

1. For example, because of the media, many buy into the idea that Gingrich was for the TARP bailout and Santorum was not. Let’s look at that idea.

On Hannity and Colmes, Gingrich said in regard to TARP:
“I think this is an appallingly bad plan. I think it will be an engine of corruption....I believe this is about as bad as anything I’ve seen in economic policy.....Socialism at its worst.”

Alan Colmes tells him his words are some of the most strident comments he’s heard against this plan and then asks what should be done. Newt amazes with his clear understanding of the problem and with his ability to give forth a solution.

Hannity and Colmes http://youtu.be/jJblJfgXBgw

2. As another example, in one of the GOP debates, Santorum joined the band wagon to say that Gingrich, whom he admitted just a few days before to be his mentor, was thrown out of Congress and that he was disastrous as a Speaker.

Somehow he skips over the fact that Congress with Gingrich enjoyed an unmatched 60% approval rating (unmatched unless you count after 9/11). Santorum hopes with expectation we won’t remember that Gingrich actually passed The Personal Responsibility Act (welfare reform), most of his Contract with America, and balanced the budget four times in a row.

http://www.house.gov/house/Contract/CONTRACT.html

Furthermore, Rick Santorum had the audacity to claim he wrote the welfare reform.

“I wrote the welfare reform bill in the Contract with America. I was the ranking member on that subcommittee. And when I came to the Senate, through a quirk, I ended up managing the bill on the floor of the United States Senate and working with President Clinton and getting a bill signed after he vetoed it twice to end welfare. We bloc-granted the program, got rid of the federal entitlement — the only one in the history of the country that’s ever been done. And I was the principal author of it in the United States Senate, managed the bill on the floor.”

Remarks from January NH debate:
http://fosterfriess.com/campfire-blog/2012/01/17/an-honest-man-in-politics/

His statement is easily refuted by the facts:

“The Personal Responsibility Act had many contributing authors, but none of them were then Representative Rick Santorum. Rep. Clay Shaw, FL is widely credited with spearheading the authorship of the bill with help from the Conservative Heritage Foundation and others.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E._Clay_Shaw,_Jr.
After being vetoed twice by President Clinton the bill that ultimately became law was the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act. The bill, H.R. 3734, was introduced by Rep. John Kasich in the House. The companion bill, S. 1956, was introduced by then Budget Committee Chairman Sen. Pete Domenici.” Justin Gray, Feb. 28

H.R. 3734 http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d104:H.R.3734

S. 1956 http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d104:SN01956:@@@R

http://www.justin.fm/2012/02/rick-santorum-is-severely-dishonest.html

Welfare reform was one of the proposals within the Newt’s 1994 Contract With America, which was mostly written by Gingrich before the election in November of 1994, before Santorum took office. It was Gingrich who put Santorum on the committee to help draft the legislation but then he had to give him direction when the conservative faction saw Santorum getting confused and actually trying to expand welfare.

“But to the surprise of Santorum and his allies, their own proposal soon became an object of ridicule in one faction of the Republican Party. Led by Representative James Talent of Missouri, this faction argued that a $20 billion work program was not the end of welfare but the extension of it; the real goal in their view was not to put single mothers to work but to discourage them from becoming single mothers in the first place.” Source:

http://www.nytimes.com/1994/04/22/us/abolishment-of-welfare-an-idea-becomes-a-cause.html

3. His loss in 2006 is explained away by him as a bad year for Republicans; but if one digs a little deeper, we’ll find his particular loss had something to do with too much spending. He said he was a conservative but he showed himself to the voters as otherwise. See video, Statist Santorum:

http://youtu.be/GMM4e1P-Sr8

4. Santorum claims to be “tea party before there was a Tea Party.” That has yet to be objectively verified especially when you consider he supported RINO Trey Grayson over Rand Paul.

In the case of Gingrich, it is easy to verify. Before it was cool, he attended the very first Tea Party and asked people to join in 2009.

K Street project

The K Street Project, launched in 1995 by Grover Norquist and Tom DeLay, was a plan for lobbying firms in DC to hire Republicans for plum positions. Those firms would then have special access to officials which could conceivably lead to having the ability to influence any regulations which affected them.

Santorum denies (http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-01-26/santorum-lobbyist-meetings-part-of-insider-history-he-rejects.html ) that there even was such a project, “We don’t have a K Street Project,” but previously in November 2005 he said,

“The K Street Project is purely to make sure we have qualified applicants for positions that are in town. From my perspective, it’s a good government thing.”

Thanks for posting.

I am reading through some of the articles.

He seems to have the wrong idea about freedom of one’s own personal life and rights of their own control. People are voting emotionally to the image of a good guy so, they won't even consider his record. He is certainly a government protector not on the side of less government. I always understood why the media built him up like a top tier candidate/so, the person with real ideas could never be able to go one on one with ideas to Romney. Romney has been protected. Rick supporters can't seem to realize Rick was that fire wall. Sad tragedy..what amazes me is that there are plenty of influential people who do know the truth about Speaker Gingrich and sit by quietly as we are forced to have Romney as the one who takes on a radical regime. The cheerleaders can yell for a few more weeks for Santorum, he will never be the nominee, in the end. I can't see how conservatives can vote for him on his idea of government control -to make laws that reach in one's private life/the bedroom is a pretty bad idea right there.

People are voting emotionally to the image of a good guy so, they won't even consider his record.

I see it this way: it is just like 2008 all over again. ONly this time it's the values voters. And in a way, it is understandable. Like the minorities before barack came on the scene with all HIS hope and change, black people had never felt they were represented in the true halls of power, and not only was Obama going to be there for them, he was going to put our racial past behind us. Only we are more divided than ever.

Santorum voters are just as starved for someone they think will truly represent their morals and values. Only he won't. Even if he wanted to, he won't be able to pull it off - he doesn't have the political acumen.

but more worrisome than anything, SAntorum will divide this country even more, along religious lines. He will make things worse, and christians will be painted once more as the bad guys trying to impose their morality on others.

And add to it what you said about the fiscal side, and it is a debacle waiting to happen.

I read a summation of why santorum's supporters support him: Rick is a good Christian man and he never cheated on his wife. Welcome to 2012...

Good comments. Maybe, one day, some of them will see

that we were right about this. In my circle of friends,

I see no one supporting him. Most of my friends like Newt

(my liberal neighbors are supporting Romney/they say the others are too far right)

...we blindly believe in faith the statements he as a Christian family man uses to make a quick point...

What could go wrong? (Thinking Jimmuh Carter here)

I can’t wait for Newt to say something about this...

Report: Al-Qaida Was Saddened By Keith Olbermann’s MSNBC Firing...

According to Ignatius’ reporting, Gadahn’s letter only fully disparages one news organization: Fox News.

“As I wrote last week, Gadahn hated Fox News,” Ignatius writes. “[H]e liked MSNBC but complained about the firing of Keith Olbermann; he had mixed feelings about CNN (better in Arabic than in English) and made flattering comments about CBS and ABC. Basically, he wanted to play them all off to al-Qaeda’s best advantage.”

We may need Ann Coulter’s comments first since she is so

very important. :) Sympathizer, Keith was their hero.

True, you have burned an awful lot of 1’s and 0’s with absolutely no effect other than showing why we never win.

It is embarrassing what you and so many are doing, and Crow doesn’t go well, with socialist dressing.

ok, i decided to read all of this and see how liberal and non-conservative “statist” santorum really is. hey we all want to learn everything we can about all the candidates right? i followed all the links and i gotta say that this whole article pegs my bs meter off the scale.

summary: someone who once worked for santorum has a connection with a UN group that isn’t pro-life. so santorum must be pro-abort by implication. huh? broken links to sources? huh? ron paul as a source? boy paul who works for romney couldn’t have an axe to grind against another candidate for president. grover norquist introduces him in a video so santorum has a deep and abiding relationship with K-street? santorum says he doesn’t work with norquist (who i think is one of the r-elite) and so the introduction video proves he’s a liar since norquist is standing by him at some unnamed republican function? huh?

most of the article doesn’t even talk about santorum. it’s talking about newt and is nothing but a bald face advocacy of gingrich. wow there is no conflict of journalistic interest there.

one good thing though. if this is the quality of arguments against santorum. i feel real good about all the checks i’ve been writing lately to support him.

and full disclosure. i’ve also written quite a few checks for newt as well, as my goal is to stop romney above all else.

I would have preferred we held fast with Newt while he was pounding Romney. But regrettably, Conservative arrogance got in the way and decided to adopt a thin, but “pristine” alternative.
