Tea Party Leaders: Rand Paul is Wrong on Newt Gingrich
US News and World Report ^ | 12/10/2011 | Mallie Jane Kim

Posted on 12/10/2011 10:11:49 AM PST by katiedidit1

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul's media blitz bashing former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as unworthy of Tea Party support isn't hitting its mark, at least not among leaders of the Tea Party Express, Tea Party Patriots, and Tea Party Nation.

"I want people to go out there and work for who they believe in," says Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer, who says she or any individual shouldn't dictate who people in the movement ought to vote for.

"These people are intelligent. They're not just sheeple that are following somebody," Kremer says, adding that Tea Partyers haven't coalesced behind one candidate yet. "They are looking at the issues; they're researching."

You are breathtakingly ignorant - I mean really shockingly. But you fell into my Boehner-Newt bait swallowed it whole. Congratulations.

To compare Boehner and Newt is so flawed as to be laughable. Boehner had nothing to do with the 2010 election and was largely out of step with the electorate. Newt in 94 with the Contract was very much central in mobilizing the electorate.

Clinton did have balanced budgets, and it was thanks to the Republican congress and Newt was very much more powerful as speaker than Boehner.

So all of your Boehner comparisons simply show that you have a very shallow mindset and think that all speakers are the same as all others.

You hate Newt. Fine. Just don’t bore me with your ignorance. I am well aware of this flaws. You benefitted from his successes but are too ignorant to accept it.

In other words, my opinion is informed and yours is not.

“Newt Gingrich is not perfect, but he is head and shoulders above the best candidate in the field right now,”

Newt is 6'00", Perry is 6'1" and Romney is 6'2". Michelle Bachmann is 5'2" which could fit the description of being "head and shoulders" which means that Michelle is the best candidate. I don't think height makes that much difference, Al Gore is the same height as George Bush and lost, and John F('ing) Kerry is five inches taller than "W" and lost.

If America needs yet another godless philanderer who sounds great in a debate yet is worse on all the issues than all of their other GOP candidates, then I suppose, in a very subjective marketing sort of way one can claim that Newt is the "best" of the candidates - "best", that is if you are a Progressive or an Establishment Republican.

And if we are going to measure Newt's ideology using the Establishment GOP's ruler, then Newt is the furthest thing from being a RINO - he is the quintessential [Progressive/Ruling Class] Republican.

At least I can sleep better at night knowing that the influence of the TEA party is dead rather than guessing if the enemedia and the intoxicating powers of Big Government did their work on the Rank & File - they clearly have.

I am serious about this: If Jesus Christ was running there would be FReepers that would have a problem with it.

Having a bit, yes. But I take it from your question that I have a poster who is known for his ignorance and orneriness on the line - so I think I’ll let him off the hook. I think I lost about 12 IQ points trying to answer him.

It’s a simple fact. Debt went up every year after the Contract of America. Perhaps it’s ignorant to be arguing the facts, but then I’ll gladly say that I am ignorant, if it brings the facts to light.

“To compare Boehner and Newt is so flawed as to be laughable.”

Try me. Boner did the exact same thing as Newt, came to power as minority leader. First time in 40 years? Yes, and he rode an even bigger wave than Newt.

If we aren’t going to credit Boner for his accomplishment, then it behooves us to cast Gingrich as the fortuitous leader during a Republican wave. You are attempting to straddle the river, either one or the other, not both.

“Newt in 94 with the Contract was very much central in mobilizing the electorate.”

SuperNoot, mild mannered congressman by day...

“Clinton did have balanced budgets”

No, he did not. Debt went up every single year under the republican congress under Newt. This ‘fact’ has been debunked and refuted many times already.

That the Nootbots want to shove this old Dim talking point in our faces, is a clear show as to why they will not prevail over Obama in 2012. To do so is to fatally undermine the position of the republicans. Do you not see how easy it is for Obama to twist this lie? Perhaps not, if it advances Noot past the primaries.

Anything that rests on a lie will eventually be torn apart. Maybe not today, but if his candidacy rests on the fallacy that the budget was balanced, then he will not win.

“So all of your Boehner comparisons simply show that you have a very shallow mindset and think that all speakers are the same as all others.”

Shallow or no, the facts are on my side of the aisle.

“You benefitted from his successes but are too ignorant to accept it.”

No, I did not benefit from the Gingrich administration. I have been directly harmed by the fact that he did not pass anything to fix the economy during boom times.

My entire professional life has been dominated by 9-11 and economic malaise. Only once, has it looked like things would turn the corner, but since then, the stock market is worse off now than it was back in 2000, given constant dollars.

Gingrich was the tail end of one of the longest, sustained growth periods of the US. So, no, I have not directly benefitted from anything Gingrich did.

While I understand, four more years of this nutcase and we are over the falls headed toward the rocks. From what I understand, the RINOS paddle slower so we might earn ourselves a few minutes of liberty before the final act.

"I will crawl on glass to vote for this RINO if he gets it. He is certainly no conservative and neither is Romney. So, we get conned again. What else is new?"

No other conservative had the guts to step up!

These are the players.

One will become the next president.

Nobody is getting conned this time.

The choice is clear.

If Gingrich wins, his victory will destroy the Democratic Party more than if Sarah Palin ran and won.

You may be right. The conning has to do with two RINOS telling us they are conservatives and the party believing them (or at least one of them). Both candidates are big government creatures. The debt will grow until the collapse under any of the 3 (Obama, Newt or Mitt).

Since when do we have leaders? I do not recognize any body claiming to be a Tea Party Leader. Especially ones supporting RINO Newt.

“”The current crop of candidates makes me weep for the future of my country.””

“Go out and find one, recruit one and support one.”

Our group is doing that — on a local and state level.

“” I weep with you-—and pray.”

That is one hell of a plan.:-(”

Never look down your nose at the power of prayer.

George Washington, John Hancock, John Adams, Paul Revere (to name a few) didn’t.

"Our group is doing that — on a local and state level."

As founder and chief architect of the Dump Dodd Movement in Connecticut, and later as a member of the Hartford Tea Party, promoter of the weekly multi-town tea parties and continuing as videographer for the CT Tea Party movement, it was part of my mission statement to not only defeat incumbents but to locate, recruit and support good conservative candidates for local, state or federal elected offices.

We've won some amazing elections, sometimes turning Democrat towns into conservative Republican strongholds. But we fell short, not winning a single state office or congressional seat in 2010. No tsunami in connecticut.....yet.

We are finding some great new people!
