... when asked about the Cuban Adjustment Act and the so-called wet-foot, dry-foot policy, Cain seemed stumped. The policy allows Cuban immigrants who have made it to U.S. soil to stay.
Wet-foot, dry-foot policy? Cain asked.
...
His staff promised hed answer questions later at the Versailles Restaurant ... Cain, though, wouldnt talk to reporters there, either.
A FOX News reporter asked Cain what he thought of President Obamas easing of travel restrictions to Cuba.
Cain said that was a gotcha question.
...
Cain was asked again by WPLG-Channel 10 political reporter Michael Putney his position on the wet foot/dry foot policy. This time Cain said he didn't think it is fair for those who make it so close to the United States to be sent back and run the risk of being thrown in Cuban prisons. Cain said he was opposed to the policy, adding there has to be a better way.
...
Liliana Ros, though, said she was turned off when Cain said Free Cuba now! She said it was pandering, or more specifically: b.s.
...
Cain won big applause for saying hed stand by U.S. allies, specifically Israel. And he blamed Obama for having a foggy foreign policy. But the candidate has been foggy himself.
...
Im often criticized about the fact that Ive never held public office, he said. Criticized with the fact that I dont know this and I dont know that and I dont know that and I dont know this.
You know, a leader doesnt have to know everything, but a leader has to know something, he said. I know how to surround myself with good people.

I excerpted heavily, and there are more good and bad things in the article, so both sides should go grab the quotes and have at it.
First of all, I love (/s) the headline: “embattled” campaign?
I think the voters will be the judge of that and it’s not yet clear from the polls (and it will take a little while longer to know for sure) which way this thing is going.
Moreover, it’s a long time until the votes start counting.
Title should have read, Frontrunner Herman Cain comes to South Florida.
Haiti was furious over the US policy of asylum for the Cubans that reached our shore vs the Haitians. I remember when Carter opened the door and we allowed a slew of haitians into the USA. One thing about the Elian situation that baffled me ...the child had the right to asylum but Reno deported him back to his father/Cuba. Cain should clearly understand our laws in this regards especially with illegal immigrants being a hot button topic.
Herman Cain is right on with this answer. The "gotcha" questions and the trap meaningless minutia questions are the standard, but useless fare of the media.
The only illegal immigrant that the Democrats and media wanted shipped back to Cuba was Elian Gonzales. Maybe it was because he was below the voting age.
Noticed the Miami Herald felt the need to define the policy for its readers. ;)
We voted in Marco Rubio for Sentator.
We elected Rick Scott as our Governor.
Marco was a Tea Party Candidate and Scott was a businessman without any Political experience.
Both are doing great things for the State of Florida.
Floridians were ready for Perry until his never-to-be-forgotten stance on education for illegals. Our Senate is now working on a bill similar to that in Arizona and Alabama.
Floridians are old enough to remember all the salient details of Newt's political past and think he is a RINO.
Florida is a very conservative Christian state and I think Romney's religion, whether right or wrong, won't play well in the State.
That said I think the State will go to Herman Cain.
Yours truly from God's Waiting Room
I don’t have any control over the headline. IT’s much better than the one “polutico” used in re-imagining this story.
Considering the LSM brought out the biggest barrage it could find against Cain, including Gloria Allred -- and considering how many conservatives played into the Libs' trap on this -- and considering all the doomsday talk, including this headline about an "embattled" campaign -- I'd say the fact that Cain "only" doubled his already low negatives and held his positives at 57% is anything but "embattled."
Yes, a candidate in this position has some rebuilding to do. Who doesn't after those first barrages as frontrunner? But this is nowhere near the tanking that, say, the Perry campaign took when it stumbled. And, IIRC, there were times that Sarah Palin had way higher negatives than this.
Although I think it will be a little while longer before the full impact of everything shows up in the polls, all in all, I'd say this was sort of like giving up a field goal when there was a huge offensive play for seven.
oh I know! I wasn’t dissing you, just the reporters that write these things.
Yawn another attempt by the GOPEstablishmentbots to pimp their McCain2.0 candidates.
" I am an American. Black. Conservative. I don't use African-American, because I'm American, I'm black and I'm conservative. I don't like people trying to label me. African- American is socially acceptable for some people, but I am not some people."
~Herman Cain
He didn’t know about the “Cuban Adjustment Act”? Why, I thought every intelligent person knew about that.
Floridians are old enough to remember all the salient details of Newt's political past and think he is a RINO.
This is something that a lot of folks don't want to hear. Especially those who are just now getting to know Newt. They have no clue how HATED he was by everybody but conservatives, then he ticked them off in the 1990's.
That said, there are things I love about the guy and I want him contributing. But I don't exactly trust him as POTUS.
As for Cain and Florida, I couldn't tell from the article, but I took it the PPP poll was of Floridians only. Assuming that's the case, the fact that Cain has held his positives to 57% with all the absolute crappola thrown at him tells me that his support has a lot of "voter intensity" behind it.
P.S. We've all got to wait for God somewhere, the Sunshine State is a nice gig if you can get it.
Yep, just sayin’ about how these reporters/media outlets do whatever they can to put a spin on things.
and Cain needs to get rid of Brazil ASAP. Talk about a shady character...if he wants to surround himself with good people...he should know that Brazil is one of the worst
Yep, just sayin’ about how these reporters/media outlets do whatever they can to put a spin on things.
Cain was making a scheduled appearance in a Cuban area most of whom vote Republican, and Cain did not know about the issues that would be important to the Cuban community.
This is not a foreign policy issue. It is an American issue and I didn’t consider it a gotcha question.
The good people surrounding Cain either didn’t prep themselves, or failed to prep Cain before he spoke. That says something to me about the people he would surround himself with.
I would have liked for Cain to have been more prepped for these issues as well.
That said, reading the article, there seemed to be plenty of Cubans who were enthusiastic about Cain.
