I seriously don't normally post these types of articles. But there was a lot of complaining about a "politico" article posted earlier about Cain's south florida trip, so I thought it would be helpful to post the story directly from a Florida news source, so we don't have to get into an argument about politico.

I excerpted heavily, and there are more good and bad things in the article, so both sides should go grab the quotes and have at it.

First of all, I love (/s) the headline: “embattled” campaign?

I think the voters will be the judge of that and it’s not yet clear from the polls (and it will take a little while longer to know for sure) which way this thing is going.

Moreover, it’s a long time until the votes start counting.

Haiti was furious over the US policy of asylum for the Cubans that reached our shore vs the Haitians. I remember when Carter opened the door and we allowed a slew of haitians into the USA. One thing about the Elian situation that baffled me ...the child had the right to asylum but Reno deported him back to his father/Cuba. Cain should clearly understand our laws in this regards especially with illegal immigrants being a hot button topic.

“You know, a leader doesn’t have to know everything, but a leader has to know something,” he said. “I know how to surround myself with good people.”

Herman Cain is right on with this answer. The "gotcha" questions and the trap meaningless minutia questions are the standard, but useless fare of the media.

The only illegal immigrant that the Democrats and media wanted shipped back to Cuba was Elian Gonzales. Maybe it was because he was below the voting age.

He didn’t know about the “Cuban Adjustment Act”? Why, I thought every intelligent person knew about that.

Cain was making a scheduled appearance in a Cuban area most of whom vote Republican, and Cain did not know about the issues that would be important to the Cuban community.

This is not a foreign policy issue. It is an American issue and I didn’t consider it a gotcha question.

The good people surrounding Cain either didn’t prep themselves, or failed to prep Cain before he spoke. That says something to me about the people he would surround himself with.

Cuban: a dialect of Spanish.

Let's put this into perspective:

1) Mathematician for the Navy, where he worked on missile ballistics (making him a rocket scientist 2) Computer systems analyst for Coca-Cola 3) VP of Corporate Data Systems and Services for Pillsbury 4) Business Manager for 400 Burger King restaurants He learned the business from the ground up to turn the poorest performers into three the best performers in three years) 5) CEO and owner of Godfather’s Pizza 6) Chairman of the National Restaurant Association 7) Adviser to the Federal Reserve System and Chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank 8)Writer, public speaker, and WSB-Atlanta Radio Host 9)Associate Minister 10) faithful husband, and father.
