A recent survey from Public Policy Polling, which typically polls for Democrats, showed the percentage of those Republicans who view Cain negatively has doubled to 31 percent, while those with a favorable opinion fell by 9 percentage points, to 57 percent. A McClatchy-Marist poll Tuesday showed Cain falling to third place. And a Quinnipiac University showed Cain in front, but hampered by doubts about his honesty when compared to Romney or President Obama.

Considering the LSM brought out the biggest barrage it could find against Cain, including Gloria Allred -- and considering how many conservatives played into the Libs' trap on this -- and considering all the doomsday talk, including this headline about an "embattled" campaign -- I'd say the fact that Cain "only" doubled his already low negatives and held his positives at 57% is anything but "embattled."

Yes, a candidate in this position has some rebuilding to do. Who doesn't after those first barrages as frontrunner? But this is nowhere near the tanking that, say, the Perry campaign took when it stumbled. And, IIRC, there were times that Sarah Palin had way higher negatives than this.

Although I think it will be a little while longer before the full impact of everything shows up in the polls, all in all, I'd say this was sort of like giving up a field goal when there was a huge offensive play for seven.

They’ve hit him with all they had (nothing) and he carried on.

If Mr. Cain keeps calm and confident and has calm, analytical people around him, he will simply continue building his campaign organization from here on out.

I think he’s doing this from the few interviews I’ve seen.
