Was reading this artical and thinking about Free Republic and how it has contributed to sanity in this nation. consider the TVs that are still functional not having been shot, the walls without holes punched in them, the many small children who have not yet learned profanities. This is all due to Jim and Free Republic lending us a megaphone to shout our frustrations at the world. I guess you missed the Duluth, GA townhall forum a couple of weeks ago. Newt got 2 standing ovations. He has a vision for America and he is very good at articulating it. Newt has some baggage but is he qualified to be president of the United States? Supremely qualified. His plan for cutting the size and scope of government is what is needed right now. I would like to see a Gingrich/Cain ticket emerge. They would beat Barry Soetoro like a red headed step child.

Newt's first marriage was to his high school geometry teacher who had seduced him. After he graduated she married him. She should have been sent to jail. Nine years later Newt doesn't look like a kid anymore, and she is the one who asks for a divorce. He brings her the papers when he comes to visit her after she gets a benign tumor removed.

Even the Catholics, who are sticklers on marriage granted Newt an annulment on that one.

I am not generally in Newt's corner, due to the things he has done politically.

But anyone holding that first marriage - which is a matter of public record - against Newt instead of the predator he married has no business lecturing anyone on their moral compass.

I have real concerns about Newt's ability to beat 0bama. The media has pretty much been giving him a free pass for now. Once they unleash on him like Cain, we're left with Mittens. I would prefer to see a Cain/Gingrich ticket or Cain/Someone Else, but wouldn't have to hold my nose (too much) for Gingrich/Cain (cough..Scozzafava...)

Newt's great with his words. It's his actions that people need to be reminded of and I'm not talking about his personal life either. That was bad enough but he voted for the Department of Education for heaven's sake.

September 27, 1979 - Newt was one of 30 Republicans who voted to create the Department of Education under President Carter. Why would any Republican who believes in a limited federal government vote to create a national Department of Education? If only Newt and 7 other Republicans had voted NO, perhaps we wouldn't have a Department of Education? Interesting note: there were more Democrats voting NO than Republicans voting YES.
