How is it attacks to simply post the facts of Newt’s long history of liberal voting and policy making?

Bring his voting record to the thread - and we'll see how it doesn't line up with your statement above.

"Nope, there are those of us out here who are realizing that Newt is the rght person to solve what ails this country"

And then there are those of us who can remember far enough back to realize that Newt Gingrich helped cause quite a bit of what's ailing us by co-sponsoring or voting for some of the most horrendous policy failures in US history, and squandering massive amounts of political capital chasing windmills around with a toy sword the last time people trusted him with any kind of real authority.

He's about the last person I'd want charged with 'fixing' anything.

Then getting off your couch won’t be a problem. The rest of us will try to save the country. You relax.

Asking for a detailed airing of Newt's dirty laundry probably won't help you make a case for him. About the only thing he really accomplished in office was turning the floor of the House into such a poo-flinging circus that essentially nothing got done in Congress for awhile. That produced a desired effect of slowing budget growth, but the aftermath of that particular mudwrestling festival was not good for either Newt or the GOP.

He is the frontrunner because he is the choice of the establishment, and that is worth far more than any straw polls or early caucus and primary samplings. Our little Republican primary voters are known to follow their “leaders” over the cliff, especially if previously rejected, a la Romney.

Here's a few key liberal votes and policies he's supported.

September 27, 1979 - Newt was one of 30 Republicans who voted to create the Department of Education under President Carter. Why would any Republican who believes in a limited federal government vote to create a national Department of Education? If only Newt and 7 other Republicans had voted NO, perhaps we wouldn't have a Department of Education? Interesting note: there were more Democrats voting NO than Republicans voting YES.

House Vote #468 (Sep 27, 1979)

Reminder: Newt Gingrich Teamed Up With Hillary Clinton, Wanted Government MANDATED Health Care

Gingrich on video from 7:00 to 25:07 - Overall immigration to make it as inexpensive and easy as possible. Goal as president to have all illegals in the country now be American citizens within 5 to 10 years.

In June 2011 Debate Newt Gingrich called Americans Heartless for deporting 20 million illegals.

"GINGRICH: No, but let me say this, John. No serious citizen who's concerned about solving this problem should get trapped into a yes/no answer in which you're either for totally selling out protecting America or you're for totally kicking out 20 million people in a heartless way. There are -- there are humane, practical steps to solve this problem, if we can get the politicians and the news media to just deal with it honestly."

ddd

"In 1994, Newt Gingrich described himself as a fan of the ideas espoused in the book, The Third Wave by Alvin Toffler, in which homosexuality, promiscuity, adultery, divorce, and abortion are all viewed as perfectly normal and even desirable. He said that in order to understand him, you should read the book, The Third Wave by Toffler. This book is written from the perspective of someone who is writing a letter to America’s Founding Fathers, in which he describes the Constitution and the principles of limited government that guided our Founding Fathers as becoming increasing irrelevant, and obsolete, and hence in need of being radically redesigned and replaced!....When Newt Gingrich became the Speaker of the House in 1994, he recommended The Third Wave as required reading for all of his Congressional colleagues!"

Believe me there is more there than this. He's buffaloed a whole lot of people but the fact is his record is out there for us to examine.

I did in post 72. I didn’t post nearly everything I’ve read either. No. 1 on the list is his vote for the establishing of the Department of Education.

Thank goodness Georgians Carter and Gingrich created the Dept. of Education, or Meghan McCain may have never been educated.

I know that is what has happened in the past, but starting in 2009, we have broken that trend. We dumped Charlie Crist for Rubio and dumped the establishment choice for governor in favor or a newbie. This happened all over the country. Romney only wins here if everyone else just plain fails, or if two other candidates are so good they split the vote (not looking to go this way as candidates seem to implode). Romney being the insider favorite means little in this cycle, and he has not been a front runner in nearly enough states or in the national poll to be considered such. He was more of a front-runner in 2008 in his first run until he failed in Iowa and never recovered.
