I once had a conversation with a well-connected Democrat in Washington, D.C., with regard to lack of advertising in conservative publications.
Without missing a beat, she said it was because "advertisers and corporate America are petrified of the far left. The executives at these companies fear that if they advertise in conservative outlets, the far left will harass them, boycott them, threaten them, and picket them forever until they give in to the thuggish behavior."
I then pointed out that these same companies who for the most part shun conservative outlets are thrilled to advertise in far-left magazines like Mother Jones and Vanity Fair, and far-left newspapers like the New York Times and Washington Post.
"Precisely," she responded. "Because these companies know beyond a shadow of a doubt that conservatives will never lift a finger in protest. They may offer an initial objection, but in the end, they will do nothing."
Unfortunately, my Democrat friend is all too correct. There have been endless examples of where conservatives could and should have risen up in protest against advertisers or liberal outlets, and didn't.
When do conservatives say "no more?" When do they finally draw that uncrossable line in the sand? As an independent conservative, I am more and more worried that day will never come. As my liberal friend says: "That's not the conservative way. They are much too polite and civilized for the hand-to-hand combat the far left lives for."
Well, another glaring example of when conservatives and defenders of free speech can and should rise up against the politically correct censorship of the far left is upon us in the guise of liberal ESPN dropping Hank Williams Jr. from Monday Night Football.

And they did the SAME thing to Rush, also.
Players? Aside from the criminals, they’re fine. The real COWARDS are the cowardly money-bag big-wigs.
Rush, Howard Cossell, Jimmy the Greek, Marge Shottenheimer and now Hank. I am offended that Obama hosted a controversial black rapper and poet at the Whitehouse. I am offended that there was a Christmas (dare I say the word “Christmas”) ornament with Mae Tse Tsung’s face on it hung on the tree in the Blue Room of the People’s house. I am offended by Van Jones and Maxine Waters calling the Tea Party racists, the gay jokes about the Tea “baggers” and much more. I am so ashamed of my country and the NFL has become nothing but a bunch of thugs getting paid way too much money for being thugs...lol. BTW I can’t stand Bryant Gumbel either...I am fed up with the pc cops
Hank’s analogy was right on...Biden and Boehner are polar opposites when it comes to politics. Hitler and Netanyahu is not that far off anymore since American politics are almost warlike these days. Watch out for a dirty election on the side of the rats

The Framers had great foresight to specify in the First Amendment that ESPN and the NFL shall not infringe on the right of free speech.
Excellent post
Conservatives need to learn that politics is war. It’s about power. Nothing more, nothing less. The left wants power to control us. Period.
Excellent article. I’m afraid it is spot-on, far too many great Americans are too passive even when they know what’s at stake, too comfy in their comfy zones etc.
I know there are some or even many ready for a fight, but these days I am just not that optimistic. But I recommend conservatives keep up the fight, until the end, no matter what.
Speaking for myself, I know I will NOT go down silently.
Exactly. Most of the top leftists don’t even believe their Marxist dogma, they use it as means to gain power via useful idiots and indoctrinated/dumbed-down population.
It’s never about “equality” or any utopia, it’s strictly about power and control, AKA tyranny.
It doesn’t, but it does show the Power of the Easily Offended.
I've had that very thought for a long time.
Or you can get raw with these strings. Either way, the violin is sweet yet lethal.
Do it!
I think a lot of people will miss your point. Not a very good or accurate title for the article. This is about companies making decisions and doesn't really concern free speech."
Wrong document. You need to be thinking about the one that says "...That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men..."
The Bill of Rights doesn't grant or establish any right to free speech just as it doesn't grant or establish the right of the people to keep and bear arms. Both are rights that existed before and independent of the Bill of Rights.
The question arising from the conflict of rights between Hank Williams Jr and ESPN/NFL is: Whose rights should prevail over the rights of the other, and why?
And the title is just fine.
No thinking person can believe this is a free speech issue.
The concept of Free Speech is limited, exclusively, to actions of government.
Whether ESPN continues it's relationship with Hank Jr., for any reason they choose, is NOT, repeat NOT a Free Speech issue.
That's a ridiculous assertion.
ESPN and Hank Jr., have equal rights to continue, or discontinue their business or personal relationships based on whatever criteria either party chooses.
“That’s a ridiculous assertion.”
No, it’s not.
And your answer to the question is good given a little honing to make it a proper answer, such as: Neither one’s rights should prevail over the rights of the other because ESPN and Hank Jr., have equal rights to continue, or discontinue their business or personal relationships based on whatever criteria either party chooses.
I believe that there will be vandalism, break-ins of campaign offices possibly even arson . I also think that campaign offices will be subject to mob attack/occupation from SEIU AFL-CIO thugs backed up by either black block anarchist or female racial minorities with leftist liberation theology spouting clergy . I also think you will see campaign volunteers suffering beat downs & the MSM spiking the story.
Why was calling John Boehner a Nazi so offensive?
