Camp Lejeune Marines To Libya By Shumuriel Ratliff / Reporter POSTED: 6:22 pm EDT March 20, 2011
We've seen Camp Lejuene marines in Iraq and Afghanistan and now they are joining the fight against Libya. 2200 marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, or 26th MEU will take part. Their mission is to help end the violence directed at the Libyan people.
"In Libya right now they are doing exactly what we need them to do. They are doing what they are told and right now that's protecting Libyan people against Qadhafi forces," said Captain Timothy Patrick, a marine with the 26th MEU.
A press release from the 26th MEU reads, in part:
"Protecting the innocent and conducting combined operations are what we are designed to do, our forces are doing both as part of the U.S commitment to protect Libyan citizens."
Patrick says that marines from the 26th MEU are coming on the end of their deployment. They will be replaced with marines from the 22nd MEU.

Oh, sh!t....
Sure, let’s waste even more time, money, and soldiers in the bunghole of the world. Makes sense.
What happened to no boots on the ground??
so they are going to protect the Muzzies that want to kill us.
poor Marines
I thought there were to be no “boots on the ground”.
Has Hussein flipped again??
It's OK, they've been issued shoes...
Every President is adding to the list of countries we are having troops. Bush-2, Obama-1 (so far). This has to stop. I wonder if we would be in Iraq and Afghanistan had Obama been President before Bush and then Bush as President now.
What are these 2000 marines going to fly?
This is a “no fly zone right?”
Or are they going in to protect the brother muslims in another war?
Nope.
the article is days old
Haven't you heard? They're gonna wear bunnyslippers. Designed by Michelle.
Ronald Reagans wisdom on the Middle East: LEAVE!

Ronald Reagan is Americas most beloved president of recent years. We remember how he restored prosperity while ending the Cold War without getting us all nuked .
Its worth looking back on Reagans policy on involving U.S. troops in the quarrels and hatreds of the Middle East. In 1983, he committed U.S. Marines to Lebanon. On Oct. 23, a terrorist truck bomb blew up the troops barracks, killing 220 Marines and 21 other troops.
At first, Reagan insisted that he wouldnt cave in to the terrorist threat. Then he realized the best policy was to pull out the troops. Heres how he explained it in his autobiography:
Perhaps we didnt appreciate fully enough the depth of the hatred and the complexity of the problems that made the Middle East such a jungle. Perhaps the idea of a suicide car bomber committing mass murder to gain instant entry to Paradise was so foreign to our own values and consciousness that it did not create in us the concern for the marines safety that it should have.
In the weeks immediately after the bombing, I believed the last thing that we should do was turn tail and leave. Yet the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics forced us to rethink our policy there. If there would be some rethinking of policy before our men die, we would be a lot better off. If that policy had changed towards more of a neutral position and neutrality, those 241 marines would be alive today.
Reagans sensible policy neutral position and neutrality should be followed today . And troops now in Iraq should be brought home immediately. Almost 2,600 have been killed in Iraq, 10 times the number killed in Lebanon when Reagan decided to leave.
Obama
We will not siding in a civil war...
There will be no boots on the ground...
Normally they're onboard ships.
maybe they’re going to issue hi-top sneakers to the marines
(ie, no “boots” on the ground)
This ain’t mission creep, it is mission gallop
Allu Akhbar, if we send in US troops they become a lightning rod for anti-western jihadists
From the Halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli...
Who the heck approved this? It is time to impeach this mongrel...he hasn’t a clue what he is doing......
