- Pro-labor demonstrators are preparing Saturday for what may be the largest rally yet at the state Capitol.
Among those expected to attend are farmers on tractors, labor leaders and the 14 Democratic state Senators who fled to Illinois to try to block Gov. Scott Walker's budget-repair bill. Walker signed the bill Friday.
Democrats have vowed to fight the legislation in the courts and at the ballot box -- there could be as many as 16 recall campaigns against state Senators from both parties. Union leaders are scrambling to try to deal with new rules established by the legislation.
The events kickoff at 10 a.m. with what is billed as a tractorcade as farmers parade on tractors and converge on Capitol Square. Music is due to begin at 2 p.m. with speeches at 3 p.m. Labor leaders Marty Biel (AFSCME), Phil Neuenfeldt (AFL-CIO) and Mary Bell (WEAC) are expected to speak.
The 14 Democratic senators are due to appear at a news conference before attending the rally.
On a larger note, the rally today will NOT be the largest, but will probably be reported as such. The FleeBaggersm the unions, and their allies have recruited some hippie organic farmers to drive their tractors to the Capitol building to make it look like more of a 'populist', French style revolt.
The only problem with the protest organizers strategy is that SPRING BREAK started yesterday at UW Madison. A lot of the 'useful idiots' they recruited are now down in Cancun or Panama City Beach Florida partying away. The campus is deserted and the 10's of thousands of resruits the unions relied on have left town. Will be interesting to see how may actually show up. If the tractors are driving AROUND the Capitol building, it means the streets are open. The day of the Tea Party counter protest (which I attended), the union thugs marched on the closed off streets around the capitol building while the Tea Party protest went on at the South entrance.
With the Japan earthquake, the unions will probably not even get much press. The FleeBaggers 15 minutes of fame are up, the world has moved on.
Good luck getting news coverage, the world has REAL problems.
This is what is wrong with today's propagandizing news! The protesters are paying these college kids to show up and protest! These college kids don't give a damn what the issues are, or even why they are out there protesting, only that they are making about $16.00 dollars an hour and probably in cash so they don't have to report it and pay taxes on the income!
This is like the Nazi Party holding a victory parade for the defenders of Berlin in 1945.
Ain’t that the truth. This is a tough couple of weeks for the World. We’ll get through it, but it will certainly have it’s own chapter in the book of history.
I imagine that the Unionistas will be grabbing every wino, doper and street urchin up off of State Street to help swell their numbers.
Just try to stay upwind of them.
While checking the lib sites this morning that's exactly what they're crying about this morning!
Are you kidding? Haven’t you noticed? The Union thuggery is the most important thing. Covering the commie events in the most positive light as possible is priority by the press.
” farmers on tractors,”
I was wonderin’ what kinda farmers would have a stake in this issue. Hippy farmers are probably bored this time of year. When does turnip planting season begin?
Wisconsinoka? Never heard of that place. They’ll have a hard time getting a TV crew in there today Fur Shur.
These guys may have a difficult time finding a mob to rent. Now that it is spring break, the young skulls full of mush are partying somewhere warm. The responsible students are either working or catching up on their studies.
Please post some of their remarks. It would truly eye-opening.
Making the rounds on the net (and previously posted on FR)... but indulge my liberties in restating: What do you get when fourteen Democrat Senators go AWOL from their jobs in Wisconsin? You get (a chance of) fiscal responsibility... and a boatload of evidence that the (so-called) “Progressive” Left is prone to violence and thuggery if democracy “fails” by their side losing! Public Unions are just another version of the “protection racket”. (as we learn local Madison businesses have been threatend)... Democracy be dammed, if they lose an election!
Now we see the black comedy of “worker hero” Michael Moore (worth in the $50 million range), arrogantly holding up handcuffs on MSNBC to arrest the “rich” (slap ‘em on yourself pal!). Those like Moore (his ego only challenged by his girth) have spawned a new word: HYPERCRITE!
The (rusty) irony: Tea Party (aka: taxpayers) are the true revolutionaries, the (so-called) “Progressives” throwing tantrums and trashing the capitol, are the reactionaries, demanding status quo (aka: we get YOUR money). Folks... we couldn’t make this stuff up!!! Viva revolution!
I guess it would be too much to hope for to have these...people...stop and consider the enormity of what happened in Japan. Maybe they don’t have it so bad after all. They still have their families, their jobs (and still some collective bargaining privileges) and are not walking around streets that have been devastated (although they will probably leave them that way for others to clean up since they are liberals). Doing this during a true worldwide catastrophe only serves to highlight their piggishness.
I would like to think that if it were a Tea Party event it would either be postponed, or used as a way of collecting donations for the people of Japan. I doubt that will happen here, they only organize for themselves.
Love to see all those fatcat hayseeds though, on their tractors bought with gubbermint subsidy money.
Mostly cloudy and windy.
Snow flurries and snow showers.
Temperatures in the low to mid 30's.
Winds occasionaly over 40 mph.
Heheh....
Leni
Where are they getting these farmers? There is no way any farmer with a brain would support the unions on this.
