I would like to think that if it were a Tea Party event it would either be postponed, or used as a way of collecting donations for the people of Japan.

I could see that happening too. There are more than ideological and policy differences between the Tea Party and the left --- we also have more character and humanity than they do (even though they claim otherwise).

It’s that Me Me Me mentality that really keeps people from sympathising with them. Once the craziness dies down and they have a chance to really see how they have behaved and what it is they are fighting for I think some of them will be ashamed. They can’t all be bad, they are just caught up in this and are being prodded on by those rounding up the herd.

(Wow, I guess I just proved your point)
