From the BBC:
1545: Libyan TV says in an "urgent" screen caption the state news agency is under "piracy" attack, and gives a new web address: "Website of [state] al-Jamahiriyah News Agency (JANA) subjected to suspicious piracy operation."
1528: And AFP has just reported that there are violent clashes between demonstrators and government forces taking place in central Tunis.
1525: In Tunisia, where it all started, hundreds of journalists and technicians from the state-run TV broadcaster have gone on strike over what they say is continued government censorship of their dispatches, Reuters reports. State TV news bulletins have stopped. One striker, asking not to be named, told Reuters: "We are on strike demanding an end to all the pressure and to stop the censorship, and to allow us to work freely... We will not accept restrictions anymore."
1443: As reported earlier, Tripoli remains calm after a night of sporadic gunfire. A Libyan journalist told the BBC that shops were open and people were going about their business. He said supporters of Col Gaddafi were occupying Green Square, in the centre of of the city.

Way to go MOM!
I wonder if Kaidaffy & sons have taken the exit?
Whereas in America with actual freedom of the press, journalists prefer to promote the Regime.
So, what’s with the Polaroid tacked onto his chest?
Present and accounted for Mom. Will attempt to remain in the background. My apology to anyone I have upset with the typed words. Heck, I have even upset myself ... (smile)
From the NY Times:
Qaddafi Forces Violently Quell Capital Protest
**********************EXCERPT***************************
By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK and KAREEM FAHIM
TRIPOLI, Libya Mercenaries and army forces put down an attempt by protesters on Friday to break Col. Muammar el-Qaddafis hold on this capital city, opening fire on crowds who had taken to the streets after prayers to mount their first major challenge to the governments crackdown, witnesses said.
The bloodshed heightened a standoff that has pitted Colonel Qaddafi who vowed Friday to turn Libya into a hell as he hunkered down in his stronghold against a spreading rebel force and increasingly alarmed international community, which condemned the violence and promised sanctions in coming days.
A rebel officer who is coordinating an attack on Tripoli, Col. Tarek Saad Hussein, asserted in an interview that an armed volunteer force of about 2,000 men including army defectors was to arrive in Tripoli on Friday night. There was no way to confirm his claim.
A replacement for Kaidaffy gets named by the NY Times....
Not sure if this answers your question:

At least five deaths were reported in Iraq after clashes broke out between protesters and security forces on Friday, as demonstrators sought to burn down government offices in several cities.

Iraq’s largest oil refinery shut by bombing

Thousands of protesters gathered in Baghdad’s Tahrir Square on Friday in Iraq’s “day of rage” to rally against corruption in local governments.
While the upheaval may have been inspired by the uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt, many Iraqi protesters aren’t calling for the complete removal of the Iraqi government. Instead, they are rallying against corruption and high unemployment, demanding improved human rights as well as an end to food, job and power shortages. The lack of clean drinking water also has prompted some unrest.

BENGHAZI, Libya The embattled regime of Moammar Gadhafi is arming civilian supporters to set up checkpoints and quash dissent, residents of Tripoli said Saturday.
...
“Peace is coming back to our country,” one of Gadhafi’s sons, Saif al-Islam Gadhafi, told reporters flown into Libya under close supervision.
“If you hear fireworks don’t mistake it for shooting,” the 38-year-old London-educated younger Gadhafi said, smiling.

There are corpses everywhere ... It’s a war in the true sense of the word,” said Akila Jmaa, who crossed into Tunisia on Friday after traveling from the town.
Well, I just watched (a recording) of the Libyan Ambassador to the UN calling for sanctions against his country, and crying. I am not a softie when it comes to all of these protestors, as I realize many, if not most, of them hate us etc, but these are amazing days we are living in. I hope we have a president soon who can deal with all of the new problems this one is leaving us.
The regime is making its last stand. But it will never gain the kind of authority it had before... Qaddafi has been exposed as the dictator without clothes!
Note to MSNBC: How euphemistically you put it...
For reference. Reports are sketchy at best but Gaddafi appeared yesterday in Green Square. His palace is north west of the corner of First Ring Road and Airport Highway. The reports of fighting have been mainly in the eastern suburbs.
