Ex-aide's book paints harsh Palin portrait
Politico,com ^ | 2/22/11 | Ben Smith/Andy Barr

A new memoir from an embittered former aide to Sarah Palin includes a trove of emails that vividly illustrate her intense focus on image and depiction in the media.

The emails, apparently from the former Alaska governor, portray Palin as nearly obsessed with her political adversaries and consumed with every slight, real or perceived.

It's interesting that this manuscript is making the rounds at Politico, Huffpost, and other liberal sources. Is there anyone who doesn't think that it won't find a publisher out there willing to put it into print?

I’d bet that if a selection of her emails about economics were focused on, the impression would emerge that she was obsessed with holding on to money.

More PDS, this time with the patina of being an insider look.

Gosh, another Politico/RINO/establishment attack on Palin. What a surprise. Not.

Is this the same Sarah Palin everyone keeps saying does not have a chance to be elected to anything?

Rather catty of this ex-aide, and I’m skeptical whether the material is even real. (So would be most publishers, who know that Sarah Palin is unafraid to sue for being purposely lied about.)

All I’d have to add is that if Sarah Palin was vain, she sure didn’t look it. Just about all vanity is pretty darn obvious. You can’t really “image engineer” total class like Sarah Palin projects.

“Todd just told me you had spoken with him awhile back and reported that some law enforcement friends of yours claimed some dumbass lie about Track not being Todd’s son? This really, really disgusts me and ticks me off,” Palin, according to Bailey, emailed aide Scott Heyworth in January of 2006. “I want to know right now who said it, who would ever lie about such a thing… this is the type of bullsh** lie about family that WILL keep me from running for Governor.”

Sounds like a normal human response to me. Maybe if GW Bush had displayed that kind of passion the left would have had a harder time trashing him politically, and maybe we wouldn't have had the 2008 election results.

As a public figure Palin would find suing for libel next to impossible.

is there ever a gruntled(to coin a word) employee that paints a harsh portrait...

bitter employees are usually the ones who sit on there hands instead of working and wonder why they get fired...

If this is even real... then it was one of the infamous mccain hitmen that acted as aides to Palin... you know... the ones that have already lied and stabbed her in the back for mitt the mutt abuser. I HATE a man that abuses his dog!

And they're generally the ones least likely to be on the inside where the important decisions are made. This is likely just a collection of crap. But unfortunately it will probably be best-selling crap, given the feelings against Palin out there.

As a public official Sarah would find it remarkably EASY to sue because in virtually every case ACTUAL MALICE can be demonstrated.

Most public officials don't have that advantage but Sarah has this crowd of screaming crazoids out there who have even expressed hatred of her children ~ even her infant!

She could set aside a million bucks or so and start suing and probably clean the pockets of every MSM Democrat and build up a George Sorros sized fortune in months.

Who among us would not be conscious of their image if in public life; who among us wouldn't be focused on our adversaries; and who among us wouldn't fight back at the unfounded lawsuits and attack on our character?

It's obvious this little worm wants attention and what he's done is show his own lack of character by revealing any emails and is completely devoid of any ethical norms and standards.

To borrow, partially, that jerk Biden's phrase: this "isn't" a BFD!

The reason the book hasn’t sold is there is nothing interesting in these emails. Sarah hates all media other than Fox? Shocking!!!!!

Bailey, who has reportedly been marketing his draft since the fall of 2009, has had difficulty selling it to a publisher – a likely reflection of his primary focus on the small world of Alaska politics.
No, the reason is much simpler. Read the examples cited in the article. There's nothing there. It's an attempt to breath life into a non-story.

Wanna make a lot of money quick? Write an inside book on Palin trashing her. The media will gladly make you the useful idiot of the day and give you tons of free pub.

There would be no need to sell a manuscript now. Politico already printed the Cliff Notes version.

Nothing new here. No wonder the author has had no takers. Move along.

Yep. I can think of quite a few decent people in my own acquaintance whose response to the same kind of slander would have been even more extreme. Defamation is serious business.
