Rove Rage

Election '10: An iconic pundit and strategist takes heat for his election night analysis of a Tea Party victory in Delaware. Can we now focus on those who are really leading America over the cliff?

Karl Rove's political street cred is beyond dispute. He's the guru who, to the dismay of Democrats and liberals still clinging to their hanging chads, guided that cowboy from Texas, George W. Bush, to the White House — twice. When he speaks, people listen.

On Fox News last Tuesday, Rove ran off a laundry list of everything that's wrong with Christine O'Donnell, the candidate backed by the Tea Party Express and Sarah Palin who won the Republican Senate primary in Delaware. The Democrats, he said, would pick her apart on personal "issues" such as how she paid off her college loans.

The reaction from the "angry mobs" that became the Tea Party movement was fast and furious. Many thought Rove's remarks would be a good commercial for O'Donnell's Democratic opponent in November, Chris Coons.

Rove could have better spent the time marveling at the political force that has propelled Joe Miller in Alaska, Sharron Angle in Nevada and now O'Donnell to victory against entrenched political interests. An unelectable Scott Brown, R-Mass., now sits in the "Kennedy seat" in the U.S. Senate and the unelectable Marco Rubio, R-Fla., is poised to join what promises to be a most interesting GOP caucus in that same body.

I don’t understand why everyone is so upset with Rove and Krauthammer for expressing their opinions.

That's simple. Rove and Krauthammer are nationally known opinion leaders, and as such, their opinions have great value placed on them by the public.

Our personal opinions may be just as (or even more) valid than theirs, but we're virtual unknowns. It would be very hard for either of us to help or harm any candidate with our stated opinions.

I frequent a newsgroup in which a few members are claiming CO’D was a prostitute, never paid taxes and is a witch. Interesting stretch. Sounds more like a Hillary resume than Christine.

The whole ‘college loan’ issue is a complete non-issue if it’s handled correctly. Come on people, how many people here who had ‘multiple’ college loans paid them off ‘immediately’ after school? I dare guess, very few.

“So we now have “electable” Dino Rossi losing 7% against Patty Murray since the last Rasmussen poll and turning a +2% advantage into a -5% loss in just a few weeks,”

This is well within the MoE and also the first time Ras started looking at ‘leaners’. I’m not saying it’s a good result - but not as bad perhaps as you painted. 44 days to go.

“Problem is, PJ, that Washington poll was done by a group which is notoriously BAD at political polling, unlike Rasmussen.”

Rasmussen also show Rossi down 5 in his last WA State poll...it was the Elway poll that was sketchy that showed him down 7, and before that was up 2 and 1...

“I was shocked at Karl Rove. If the establishment Republicans had spent half the energy used to attack O’Donnell on attacking Obama’s socialistic policies, we wouldn’t be in this mess now.”

Problem is many self identified ‘conservatives’ like Rove are still in love with the idea that somehow the RAT media will accept and “like” them. The sooner they rid themselves of this idea, and just strongly stand for Conservative principles notwithstanding the propagandists, the better.

“I would put the blame on Rossi for losing the Senate, not O’Donnell, because Rossi has run for the Senate and let his win be stolen from him by a corrupt recount. How come Rossi isn’t a perennial loser but O’Donnell is?”

Rossi ran for Governor twice - 2004 and 2008. The election was stolen by corruption in King County - of the Acorn variety. It was VERY convaluted and Rossi did not just lay down. It was very infuriating.

“He won’t, he was bad mouthing her again tonight. This makes 3 times counting election night that he trashed her.”

Sounds like Mr. Rove is a little touchy.

“These purposes, of course, have nothing to do with either O’Donnell or Rove.”

Really? I’m certainly no Paulista, and I think what Rove did on election night and since to O’Donnell was awful. Time for the moderates (include Murkowski) to get on board and support the GOP nominees.

“I don’t know or care about O’Donnell.”

That says a lot. Do you care who wins that DE Senate seat?

I know. I followed that one closely on Stefan Sharkansky's soundpolitics.com. I made a mistake in my initial post when I said Senate instead of governor, but corrected myself a few posts later.

Still, even though you pointed out that the race was within the MOE, it went from +2% to -5%. A +2% lead in a race with a 4% MOE is a 71.6% probability of winning. A -5% loss is a 7.16% probability of winning. Let's hope this poll was an outlier.

Yes, according to Mort, anybody who wants to do away with the Department of Education is a wacko. I guess that makes Ronald Reagan a wacko.

Who then is Tennessee Tuxedo? Bill O'Reilly?

(At least he's acerbic enough.)

Cheers!

Rove is busily sabaotaging O’Donnells run against Coons. That does make Rove a bad guy. He has consigned himself to the junk pile of punditville. He has lost his bully pulpit as an effective election manager, who would want him
now?

Rove is history. He is part of the Republican cabal that mamaged to lose America to a nationalist socialist movement
headed by Barrak Obama. The people do not care whether O’Donnell cracks her eggs on the big end or the litte end, so long as the eggs are leftists dems and elitist Republicans like Rove, who substitute their own will for that of the people.

Rove is history. And he thinks he is too valuable to be expendable. He just proved his lack of value, and as such is immediately expendable.Rove just fired himself. Now he is free to travel to Brobdingnag. No one is going to even try to stop him.
