Iran to jail suntanned women, UN appoints Iran to women's right commission

Tehran’s police chief has ordered a crackdown on suntanned women and girls who walk around looking like “mannequins” in an effort to cleanse “social misbehaviour by women, and men, who defy our Islamic values.” The United Nations responded by placing Iran on the Commission on the Status of Women.

I had to check three times and go to the link to make sure this wasn’t satire. If it was satire, I was going to slam it as TOO over-the-top. After all, how can women show they aren’t suntanned without exposing their skin (even just face), which is also not allowed?

So to enforce this law, the “morality” police will now force women to expose skin? Will they then beat the women for doing that, too?

Beyond insane...

In today’s insane, upside-down world, truth too often mocks parody.

Iranian police begin using up-skirt cameras to examine all women suspected of being tan...starting a whole new porn industry in the process

Well, you can’t accuse the UN of being inconsistent. It’s always pulling stunts like this.

Rod Serling might not have believed the absurdities that pass for commonplace news items today. George Orwell believed it possible for mankind to submit to tyranny willingly, but only because many people secretly desired it in lieu of personal responsibility. He was, of course, correct.

I've always enjoyed "dystopic" science fiction - in the abstract. It requires only a temporary suspension of disbelief in order to see the horrible consequences of bad ideas carried to their logical outcomes. Today, increasingly, we seem to be living a nightmare. When the world demands one's suspension of consciousness and a refusal to do so is met with insults or threats or worse: we are very much in the Twilight Zone.

So, Michelle O has a ‘tan’? Maybe we can convince her to go on a junket to Iran.

The Iranian thought police should check ‘em for black eyes. No black eyes, she isn’t getting beaten enough at home.
