If you mean that the Constitution & the 14th amendment do NOT give citizenship to illegal alien offspring born here, you are correct.
HOWEVER, for many years, that isn’t what’s happening. They are considered US citizens, and many of them are now old enough to vote. Because they are considered citizens they can get the entire family on public aid, etc.
As for there are no ‘anchor babies, perhaps you’d prefer the term coined by Terry Anderson...JACKPOT babies.

Children of illegal alien parents in the U.S. should not be given automatic U.S. Citizenship. This 14th amendment was interpreted incorrectly. Our congress chose to ignore the real meaning of this law, and did absolutely NOTHING about the hordes coming over to have their babies and be on the gravy train because of the kids.
This way our congress and presidents are allowing these illegals to eventually take over our entire country.
These anchor babies and their parents are already voting and hoping for Reconquista!. This is their goal.
Our government is too stupid to see this coming.
Try this in Mexico and see how far you get.

It would take reversal of judicial precedent to prevent birthright citizenship for the children of illegals. Remember that we come from a common law tradition, where judicial review/precedent carries alot of weight.

I have been searching for a cogent way to explain it. I found it in another forum posted by someone else:
"You should know by now that the 14th Amendment contains the phrase "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof".
An "AND" clause requires both sides of the clause to be true for the conclusion to therefore be true. Children of illegal immigrants are subjects of the jurisdiction of a foreign power, not of the United States, and therefore, they are not citizens of the United States, they are citizens of their parents' nations.
There is absolutely no historical precedent for citizenship being granted merely on the basis of having been born on U.S. territory. Thanks to this deliberately broad interpretation, we now have nonsense like a global birth-tourism industry where people from all over the world come to have their kids here to claim all the benefits of U.S. citizenship. Never in the wildest dreams of the authors of the 14th Amendment did they imagine that those words could be seriously interpreted as loosely as you suggest."
