DOE's Search and Seizure
american thinker ^ | 4/12/10 | Louis Case

he feds are coming to inspect your home if you want to sell it, according to regulations buried in cap-and-trade legislation and standards decreed by the Secretary of Energy. But there are numerous legal difficulties inherent in DOE "inspections." Here are a few:

First, the regulations purportedly require homeowners to submit to a warrantless search of their property. The result of this inspection ("looking in") of their home would be to condemn real property (fixtures and things attached to the land are real estate in many states) and/or personal property.

Yep staying in my current house until I am old and more grey. Not going to let rogue agencies into my house for anything.

Gee, The DOE would have a fit if they saw my “illegal” high capacity toilet in my workshop bathroom that I salvaged from the site of an old restaurant that was being torn down...

If they were REALLY serious about conserving energy, then they would outlaw automatic dishwashers, dryers, refrigerators over a certain saize, etc--anything that costs energy but makes living easier.

The answer to real estate agents and lawyers not getting paid at closure is to sell your home by yourself. It is an easy process.

I cannot imagine the majority of people in this country being able to financially withstand the cost of upgrading appliances, heating/air systems, or energy-efficient electrical systems to meet fed requirements.

If this measure saves the life of just one child, it’ll be worth it.

The horror. I’m so afraid of wasting anything, I dug a slit trench out back and use pine bark nuggets instead of toilet tissue. All of my food is sugar-free, low-fat, high-protein, gluten-free and dolphin safe. My electricity comes from a bicycle-powered generator, solar cells and lead-free batteries. I don’t burn any fossil fuels, I just shiver uncontrollably.

These days, the Constitution of the United States of America is worth less than toilet paper.

There was a single panel magazine cartoon that I saw oh so many years ago and really wish I had saved it for posterity.

Stone Age couple looking out of cace entrance and the man saying to the woman, "I don't understand it, we eat all natural foods, get lots of exercise in clean air and we still die at 40!"

Sounds like you are a prime candidate for an Admin slot in the future Green Housing section of US Dept. HUD.

Their power grab may be a blessing in disguise. Once they pass Cap-n-Trade we may actually have legal grounds to have it overturned.

If this measure saves the life of just one child, it’ll be worth it.

If the Left REALLY believed that line, they would outlaw abortion immediately.

I envy you your toilet...bet it flushes in one flush....Don’t know what the law is right now, but you could buy a great flush toilet in Canada and bring it into the country, but it was illegal for any licensed contractor to install it...(I live close to the Canadian border). They might have changed that in the last 7 years...toilets were not on the smuggling list. A carton of Ciggies going into Canada was illegal...

Well, the myriad logical fallacies of our (post) modern world are absurd and surreal.

As one nonpuffer tsktsk’ed self righteously, as they are wont to do, when looking at the rare sight of a pregnant woman smoking, I remarked, heck, just tell her to get an abortion and then she can keep smoking.....

I’m used to dirty glares.

When people ask me why I still smoke I tell 'em I do it for the children.

Good grief, how can the DOE keep up with a country’s worth of home sales even in this down economy?
