OAKLAND — A You Tube video showing a fight between two AC Transit bus riders has ignited a flurry of online debates about violence, race and the safety of public transit.
The video, which shows an older white man exchanging blows with a younger black man, is attracting hundreds of thousands of hits.
The fight took place Tuesday afternoon on a bus in downtown Oakland, near the corner of Harrison and Webster streets.

I was referring to some posters here, more than one, who called him an example of a model citizen, or some similar nonsense. The facts show that he’s a known quantity with a history, and what’s known ain’t good.
BTW, I live in Oakland, in the flats. I know what the thugs look like. The black guy is in NO WAY a “gang banger” or a thug. No thug with an ounce of “street cred” dresses like that.
A real thug would have had long cornrows, maybe dyed red, a grill, a puffy jacket, or an oversize cloth jacket with Mickey Mouse or dollar signs on it, some cheap gold chains, and a squared off baseball hat at some stupid angle, with the tag still on it.
And a real thug would have been packing, and shot Beard Guy in a heartbeat, or got on a cell phone and called in his posse to do it for him.
My point is simply to avoid escalating the situation (which both parties did). Violence did not have to happen in this instance just as it does not have to happen in most instances.

Thugs and bullies are emboldened by such passive behavior. If you roll over and show your belly to a wolf, you're gonna get your guts ripped out.
You have three choices; you can be the wolf, you can be the sheep dog, or you can be the sheep.
You choose to be the sheep. You've been fortunate to have the sheep dogs whom you've insulted (with your "everyone lost WWII" comment) to protect your butt.

For some of us that line is very close, it defines us, for others that line could be a million miles away HOWEVER once that line is crossed it is human nature to give no quarter or expect it in return.

Guys, guys. I’ve hammered on mug in this thread, but I can kind of understand where he is coming from. Don’t escalate a situation when it’s not necessary. Like I said in a previous post, the black guy seemed a little “touched” himself and was egged on by the girls in the back. What’s the old Marine screed; “Be polite, be courteous, but be prepared to kill everyone you meet.”

Long ago, the young punk would have been removed by the driver. If he put up a fight, the male passengers would have helped. If the old guy acted up or provoked the situation, he would have been tossed off, too.

For the 14th time, my point is to not let the situation escalate (as in this totally avoidable bus incident).

If more “incidents” like this ended the way this one did, there would be far less “incidents”.
We have been trained to ignore the sort of shit-talking and behaviour exhibited by the thug in the video and THAT has led to the deaths and harm of thousands.
A well-timed ass-kicking can be an invaluable lesson.
Hopefully “Foolio” gets it....
