You are being way too general about this. In this situation, if EBM (Epic Beard Man) had simply walked up to the front and been quiet, nothing would have happened and it all would have been okay. Course, Black dude shouldn’t have thrown the first punch, regardless of EBM’s willingness to continue the argument, and, eventaully, pwn black dude.
I wonder if there will be a bear for the two with Obama?
The old guy retreated to the front of the bus, but was pursued. If he was spoiling for the fight, he would not have retreated.

The latest altercation involving Thomas Bruso began when a younger man on the bus began yelling at Bruso, who calls himself “Tom Slick,” “Vietnam Tom” and “Epic Beard Man.”
Bruso was taken to the John George Psychiatric Pavilion for an evaluation after he struck the male passenger several times with his fist and continued to rant about the incident, Alameda County Sheriff”s spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.

True, with the qualifier that for some of us he IS the perfect role model for bus riding In SF. first you walk away, then if it's being filmed for gang initiation, do everything you can to make sure the punk can't join the gang....one less gang member is always a good idea!

I agree. Unpopular opinion, but my first thought watching the video, and before any physical altercation began, was that the bearded guy was mentally ill. At the start of the video, the first interaction between the two is the old guy asking the black kid "How much do you charge to spit shine my shoes?" Who in their right mind would ask a total stranger on a bus, let alone a black man, that question? Sure, the black guy threw the first blow, and he's not entitled to do that on the basis of a verbal taunt, but he certainly was deliberately provoked.
THE double standard. The other double standard doesn't even count any more! That said, if Michael isn't the half wit he appears to be, he'll ditch his girlfriend with the camera pronto!
Has to be an early contender for Darwin Award...or who knows, mebbe it was HER gang initiation.
