Team Obama Keeps Pushing to Take Over the Internet
Fox News ^ | January 12, 2010 | Phil Kerpen

If our government does end up in control of the Internet, they could potentially restrict it as a medium of dissent, blocking the ability to communicate, educate, and organize.

Glenn Beck and I exposed how radical White House Internet czar Susan Crawford was in 2009 and she resigned. Unfortunately, in 2010 her former colleagues appear undaunted in their efforts to take over the Internet. Despite the fact that the Federal Communications Commission’s claims to have jurisdiction in this area were revealed to be extremely flimsy just last week, the FCC is moving ahead with proposed "Open Internet" rules, which would give federal regulators vast new powers.

"Open Internet" is the left's latest marketing language for what they used to call "net neutrality." It sounds simple: force phone and cable companies to treat every bit of information the same way. Great, until you realize that modern networks are incredibly complex, with millions of lines of code in every router. Making sure services like VoIP, video conferencing, and telemedicine (not to mention the next great thing that hasn't been invented yet) get priority may be necessary to make the Internet work, but the government is considering regulations that will make it illegal to prioritize traffic.

These networks cost billions of dollars to build and maintain, and if there is uncertainty about getting a good return on that investment, private investment will dry up. And then government will step in, spending billions of our tax dollars on a government-owned and controlled Internet. It’s already started, with $7.2 billion in “broadband stimulus” in last year’s bloated stimulus bill that the FCC considers a down payment on much bigger infusions of taxpayer dollars, which tend to come with strings of government control attached.(continued)

If this doesn’t get the high tech liberal crowd all riled up at Bummer with tar, pitchforks, and torches, nothing will.

Mr. Barack is a piece of smoking political toast. Well you asked for this lefties, and you got it.

Just like the Red Chinese are doing.

But then, this is what totalitarians do.

Leo Laporte, the tech guy has been avoiding this issue. He’s one of O’s “fans”, and his answers were clearly incoherent...

Obama are his team are way overrated. They are failing on everything they have been trying and failing very miserably.

Obama and his socialists are like typical bullies, they appear to be strong and they take advantage of the weak but once someone stands up to them they back down and run away.

Take the healthcare bill for example. They started with the ultimate goal of destroying the insurance companies and they ended up with a bill where the insurance companies are the biggest winners.

They went after civilians like Limbaugh, Foxnews, Glen Beck and they failed badly.

They are even now fighting tooth and nail trying to win the Massachusetts seat, Massachusetts the most liberal state in the Union.

To tell you the truth I am more confident now that they are going to have extreme difficulty in implementing their domestic agenda. I am not saying that they will not try I am not saying that we should not work hard to stop socialism but for certain it is proven now that they can be defeated and they have been defeated many times already.

My greatest fear is that now we have extremely emboldened terrorist enemies who are going to hurt us very badly because of Obama cowardice, appeasement, and utter lack of leadership.

Very good points, jveritas. But the damage they have inflicted is deep and will be tough to repair. And we only know very little of what they’ve actually done and are doing behind the scenes. They are pure EVIL.

Yup. When Michelle is pulling up turnips or the Bamster is out golfing, their minions are behind the scenes tirelessly undermining the pillars of the republic.

You don’t have to go that far. My brother was head of BBC Internet in England where I believe it’s the only game in town.

I have to go with you on that one, but if they try and take the net, they will also have to shut down every comm in the country, including confiscating all my Campbells Soup cans and balls of string.

While I agree with much of what you say, that they have been handed numerous defeats within the system (or as close to in-bounds as they have been willing to play), I would not rule out the possibility of more desperate measures (grossly unconstitutional ones) in order for them to continue to consolidate power. While their gains have been less than they might have hoped for, they have been substantial, and the looting continues.

There is a distinct possibility that the administration may attempt to orchestrate economic and other situations which cause the rule book to be discarded and in their desperation overstep their bounds far more significantly than they have to date. If that happens, they will declare war on the productive classes, and have at their disposal all the tools, economic and physical that they need to really create chaos.

Keep in mind that they are ones to exploit any crisis, and it would not be unimaginable that they would orchestrate one or more crises in order to exploit them.

At that point, it may take more than words to back them down.

Keep your powder dry, FRiend, and pray we can resolve this in such a way as to reinstate our Republic. The struggle is far from over.

One more time:

These are not your father’s Democrat’s. These are communists.

We are witnessing a hard-left blitz. They seek to overwhelm, frustrate, and demoralize you.

Listen to the words they use. They work hard to put you to sleep, to confound your defensive/survival instinct, i.e., keep you from getting a clue and fighting back.

Phrases like: “more than expected”, “make whole”, do not come from nowhere. This is psychological subversion.

Whatever they say it is, it is actually the polar opposite.

“Open Internet” = Ultimately a Chinese style control of the Internet.

“Progressive” = Tyranny is not progress. It is as old as dirt.

“Never been a more open process than in this healthcare debate” - Nancy Pelosi

I could go on all night. But this is classic commie-speak on parade.

Communism—not today, not tomorrow, not in five years, but if you think these people will stop with “open Internet”, “health care reform”, “cap ‘n trade”, etc., you are naive, or in complete denial.

The left will never stop trying to enslave you.

“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.” — Thomas Jefferson

“Leo Laporte, the tech guy has been avoiding this issue.”

I like to listen to Leo, but he is the classic useful idiot, isn’t he?

He loves the effect of capitalism, but can’t bring himself to love the cause.

EVERYTHING he talks about is driven by, or created by capitalism. What a monumental contradiction rots in his head.

He was whining to some lib chick about his being torn about whether or not to Tweet ads the other day. He wouldn’t want to offend granola-eating, kepitelist-hating minority of leftists in his audience, ya know.

Sucks to be him.

He did talk about the free wifi that his “idol” Obama promised and was harping about it, UNTIL one caller who wasn’t one of his usual worshippers talked about RIAA/MPAA crackdown on bittorrent DL’s. Leo DANCED around the issue and I understand BS when I hear it.

He’s unchallenged with his superb knowledge of Mac’s I’ll tell you that. But if they are politically charged issues such as RIAA infringement issues or free wifi, both you and I can make our own shows.
