Memphis mayor to confront gun violence November 29, 2009 12:08 EST
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- New Memphis Mayor A C Wharton Jr. will embark soon on a communitywide plan to address gun violence in the city.
Wharton, who's been in office a month, said it boils down to a health care problem.
He plans to tap a steering committee composed of officials from hospitals, churches and law enforcement. He also focused on the problem as county mayor before being elected city mayor.
Wharton told The Memphis Daily News he has not decided about the future of Police Director Larry Godwin.
But he said there would be "strong, unrelenting enforcement" in his administration.

To her credit she just shrugged and moved on. Suddenly everything's a health issue.
Mr. A.C. Wharton, what is the primary racial makeup of the criminals that use guns that rob and murder the citizens of Memphis? What was it like 15 years ago? What is the difference between then and now?

Nurse: “Do you have any guns in the home?”
Me: “How often do you have sex?”
Nurse: “WHAT?”
Me: “Well, since you’re asking questions that are entirely none of your business, I thought you wouldn’t mind answering the same kind of questions.”
Okay, but you try asking that one on your own time. Whenever you bring a kid to the ER it’s like being in front of judge, jury and executioner.
The problem is that you have too many murderers running around.
What you need to do is tell the law abiding citizens you need a little help shooting these murderers.
They can pretty much be identified by the falling down pants, backwards cap, weird hand gestures, foul language and aggressive behavior.
If one of these cretins comes near you and threatens your safety with a gun...shoot to kill.

They have to first take away our hands, then our screwdrivers, before they take away the damn guns.
“County Executive” is basically what this is.
Why is gun ownership and smoking a health care issue and homosexuality is not. People die a lot sooner and sicker of the latter than the former.
