GUATEMALA CITY (Reuters) Scuba divers are exploring the depths of a volcanic lake in Guatemala to find clues about an ancient sacred island where Mayan pilgrims flocked to worship before it was submerged by rising waters.

Will they blame that on GoreBull Warming?
Nahh, they can’t.
It was a volcanic event that sunk the island.
Cool, very cool!
Rising waters, melting ice, Carbon dioxide, etc.
Keep the words going, sooner or later it will all come together ... just look at our white house and the critters in both houses dismantleing and destroying the greatest nation on the planet.
This is obviously Bush’s fault because he angered the volcano god which unleashed a volcanic event that in turn raised the water and flooded this site. Women and underprivileged inner city youths were most impacted.
“Researchers believe this area, 50 feet below the lake’s surface, was once an island until a catastrophic event, like a volcanic eruption or landslide, raised water levels.
Could be taken either way, I suppose.
If Bush were around at the time, hundred’s of years ago, Gore’s gang of geeks would certainly blame him.
This article wasn’t really about Global Warming ....ooops, I mean “Climate Change”, since the catastrophic event happened so long ago, but I agree, Gore’s gang of geeks are going to be looking for cracks to crawl into.

Glad you liked it.
I’m always looking for interesting stuff like this, it’s sort of therapy getting away from the daily crap coming from Washington.
Do you know if this man has a website about these ruins? I looked briefly but didn’t see any, I would like to see what they have found so far.
I surfed for a while, couldn’t get any more info.
It said in the article they’re tring to keep the place secret.
Guess we’ll just have to wait until the researchers reveal more about what’s there.
Thanks for your reply, I looked as well and didn’t see anything. There is a tremendous problem in Central and South America with robbing of sites, I guess you can’t blame them for the secrecy. This does sound like a fascinating find I wonder if they have determined when it was flooded and if it happened suddenly?
Oh well all we can do is keep a eye out for more information.
I sagree with you!
I see now it was in 250 ad that is a very early site, makes it even more interesting to me.

Yes, very early. I don’t believe the Bible was written yet in relative terms.
Probably just a guestimate at tis point also, unless radio carbon testing was done, but that usually takes a while.
I get the impression that the island was maybe in a caldera from a previous volcanoe, and sunk due to an eruption or a lava flow partially filled the lake causing the waters to rise.
The article is going to create a lot of interest, so I’m sure we will be hearing more. If the government can provide security, maybe they’ll even open it up to larger groups.
Ping.
