Hello FreeRepublic. My name is Nathan I'm a GIS Mapping Technician in Ohio. I want to put my skills to good use in trying to restore America to its common sense roots.
I created this map to show the votes of representatives on HR2454, otherwise known as Cap and Trade. If you are so inclined you can contact the representatives that voted for it and ask them to redact their votes. If you want to download the better PDF that better shows counties and congressional districts, go to my SkyDrive and download.
Feel free to pass it on to anyone you think might benefit from it.
Can you make a map where it is the yeas vs the nays, no party affiliation? Thanks.
This question came up yesterday. Can votes on the bill be redacted? If anyone knows with certainty, please comment.
Excellent work! If I were younger I would get into the GIS field. I’m not starting a new career though. We do use GIS in our caving endeavors though. I understand the basics but don’t have the time to put forth to learn it all. I’m fluent in GPS, numerous databases, map datum, etc. Great work dude!
Welcome to FR
Interesting. Thanks for posting!
Very nice! Thanks for posting this!
I believe that the map contains an error.
Dennis Moore, Democrat, KC KS, voted YES, I think.
Sweet! I’ll save this and see how the gerrymandering works out after the census. :)
No. The House is in recess until 1 day after the 5 day redaction period ends. The only hope is the Senate.
HR 2454 is now HR 2998

“The American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES), HR 2998 (formerly HR 2454) passed the House of Representatives today by a vote of 219 to 212. ...”

Great Job on the Map!
Thanks. I had read that yesterday and hoped it wasn't true.
Welcome to Fr...Good map RE clean energy act. Thank you for your contribution.
Do those #’s go in sequence? If so, what is HR2455 through HR2997? Is that about 540 other shady things??
Great map. I do GIS work too, but unfortunately my work is not as interesting as this.

Thank you. It’s really helpful.
Fantastic work, GISPatriot! Thank you for your time, talent, and tenacity. It is very helpful to see how the country is divided in its views. Appreciate you!
Thanks for the map...fairly typical distribution for the usual suspects. Whats up with S.W. Va.? Thought there wouldn’t be so many Dem reps that part of the state?
Looks right. Mercifully, Matheson voted against this abortion.

“Whats up with S.W. Va.? Thought there wouldnt be so many Dem reps that part of the state?”
Nothing new. That map hasn’t moved in over 50 years that I know of. ;) At least the blue parts are light blue, which means the Dems were smart enough to vote NO! ;)
Excellent work ........... THANK YOU ..! PASS IT ON ... PING!
How is it going down when they add a 4th district. I was grieved when the old family stomping ground in Summit County went rat. If Uninta and Duchesene go the same way I will stop claiming Utah as my Home State.
Utah’s new district would run along the western edge of the state and include Tooele, Juab, Millard, Beaver, Iron and Washington counties.
In other words, instead of 1/3 rat, it would be 1/4.
Any chance that you all can Gerrymander that person out? If I remember right Washington Co. is is around St George, a lot of GD Emigrants, as my Grandfather used to say.
But, the colors chosen are confusing.
To be clearer, all the Yeas should be of the same color but with different shades for party affiliation, as well as the Nays the same color, also with different shades for party affiliation.
My understanding is that any redistricting would need a new election in all districts. OTOH, Jim Matheson, as unbelievable as it might seem, is a good man, and votes right when it counts. I guess if we have to have someone to represent Utah liberals, we could have done much worse (think Rocky).
With obama and ACORN running the census the only gerrymandering that will get done is creating more Dem districts
I seem to remember his Father when he was Gov, even my Aunt didn’t dislike all that much. How come a nice Conservative State, elects and continues to elect Rino’s as Governors.
I see NY is so red, it's bleeding. scary.
How about a map with less confusing color combinations?
It's not all that confusing. Light colors are NO, dark colors YES. Blues are Dem, Pubbies are red (pink).
What do you want? Egg in your beer?
I am so proud
My state’s entire delegation in the House voted NO!
WHat a guy, I know we could count on him.

It looks to me like the left coast, the wetbacks, the Rust Belt unions, and the damyankees are the tail that is wagging the dog...
I'm looking for a root cause. What do those four groups have in common? (Aside from the stupidity to blindly follow the GoreBull Warming piper...)
Not only that, you have an outstanding Governor!
+1.....me, too, in Texas. Maybe we can start a GIS ping list! btw, what software did you use? - it looks like MapInfo.
I have made my views on her leadership known earlier, so I'll leave at as enuf sed.
You have the colors in reverse. Red should be communist.
You better look at CA again. Most of the districts show light pink and one shows light blue, which are No votes. Only one republican district in CA voted yes. In fact more districts voted no than yes. Better look to New Mexico, the Great Lake states and the far northeastern for your real culprits on the yes votes, especially that one Northeastern state with all the Dark Red, RINO traitors.
You better re-read my statement again. I did not mention "California".
I said, "left coast" That includes all the way up to the Canadian border -- and, it specifically includes that narrow strip of California that should be dumped into the Pacific -- should San Andreas ever wake up and do its job...
Sexy.
