Fla. House panel OKs offshore drilling Last Edited: Tuesday, 21 Apr 2009, 7:01 PM EDT Created On: Tuesday, 21 Apr 2009, 7:01 PM EDT
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - A Florida House panel has approved a bill that would permit oil and natural gas drilling in coastal areas where its now banned.
The measure would allow drilling from the waters edge to 10 miles into the Gulf of Mexico. Thats where federal waters begin, and also where drilling is prohibited.
The House Policy Council approved the Republican-sponsored bill (HB 1219) on a nearly straight 17-7 party line vote.
Its next stop is the House floor. A similar bill (SB 2294) has been stalled in the Senate, where it is not scheduled for any committee hearings.
This is well done indeed by the House Policy Council, and is welcome news.
‘..The person we need to worry about is the Governor..’
also my first thought. tomorrow, calls will be made to Fla Senators and House members AND to the Gov’s office.
well I just hope that my state now pushes on the sovereign bill.
Oh, very cool! Thanks for posting this! It made my heart glad!
There IS hope - just not from the Resident.
(Also, I’m a VERY big fan of Geddy... ;)(and the other two))
They won't have to. RINO Gov. Crist will probably veto it.
I’m sure Ted Kennedy is taking notes...
“Well I do declare. It seems that the senator has changed his position on off-shore drilling!!!”
Oh geez. I hope not.
From a search, it seems like Crist is for drilling.

Is that wrong now?
Well I do declare. It seems that the senator has changed his position on off-shore drilling!!!
Teddy will personally drive a busload of protestors out to the first rig that gets built.
unfortunately, these days, I’m not sure what Charlie’s position will be.....which way is the wind blowing.
So, I’ll call and let him know my position hasn’t changed...it may be unpopular, but my position remains the same.
You go!!!!
And thank you!
Missy prissy Charlene Crissy?
Somebody in the FL House has some guts. Wow! Yee Haw!
Start drilling before China and Cuba steal the oil with horizontal drilling.
At least one state won't have to "Bow" to him anymore....
You’re very welcome. On another recent thread, someone posted R.O.A.R.= Restore Our American Republic.
I’m committed to this mission.....
After today’s comments by Mr. Obama saying, in essence, he’s open to investigations of Bush Admin people, I am even more FURIOUS than ever! Called the White House comment line and told Operator we don’t need to spend money...that we don’t have....on frivilous investigations and further, interesting that Mr. Obama can forgive travesties of Castro, Chavez, Ortega but he can’t forgive wrongdoings that HE PERCEIVES done by Bush Admin which millions of Americans supported cause they kept us safe for 8 years..
Every day seems to get worse for our country.
A similar bill is stalled in the senate. No surprise there. It won’t get out and nothing will happen. Nobama will make sure, one way or another.
