The Senate Finance Committees top two members Democrat Max Baucus and Republican Charles E. Grassley teamed up today to introduce legislation that would provide money to help small and medium-sized charities get training and management assistance.
The legislation, introduced as an amendment to a national-service bill now being debated by the Senate, would provide $25-million over five years to a Nonprofit Capacity Building Program within the Corporation for National and Community Service.
The amendment would strengthen small charities around our country, especially where resources are scarce, Senator Baucus of Montana, who chairs the finance committee, told his colleagues on the Senate floor. He said it would allow groups to get training, for example, in how to manage their finances, raise money, fill out tax forms, work with new technology, or plan long-term budgets.

In BHOs budget, he is calling for removal of all individual tax deductions for charitable donations and then one of our Republican Senators is adding a spending Amendment to a Spending Bill (HR1388,s277) so Charities can have matching federal funds. Does this make sense?
What if the government gives matching funds to a charity that is pro-abortion? And they will with this Amendment. Do the Republicans get it or what? What are they doing?
What king of training will the government provide these charities? How is it that the government is in any position to provide this expertise unless it is Community Organizing training?
Instead of pushing back from the bargaining table from a BAD Bill (HR1388 or S277) they relent and say well it will pass anyway so I might as well add some spending that I want.
Congress should not be trusted with taxpayers money and they have long ago burned that bridge.
Where are all the fiscal conservatives that have ethics and a spine??

This is nothing more or less than a power grab! This is government control of charities. Obamassiah plans to eliminate the tax deduction for charitable giving, thereby withering private funding, and plans to replace it with government money. Of course the money from government will go where the socialist scumbags want it to go. There needs to be a constitutional amendment that guarantees dollar-for-dollar tax deductions and forbids government giving to not-for-profit groups.

Agreed. This is also a way to funnel government money to politically correct charities without seeming to favor them. We all know very clearly that with government money comes government shackles and those charities which wish to remain independent of government control will refuse such funds, thereby freeing them for NARAL, PP, Amnesty International, ACLU and such like-minded charities who have no qualms about accepting government control. The loss of the deduction starves all charities but this will make it up a bit for the politically correct ones.

Are these people REALLY that effin dumb? Yes, and my prayers are that the Obama Administration and it's minions (including in the Press) would be Democrats to the Nth degree possible such that Repentance would break out across the land, making the revivals of the past look like tent meetings.

This is an end run to get HR1388/S277 through. Grassley is one of those guys who has the “bi-partisan disease” and its the direction the me-too’s are taking. He was given a chance to offer a Republican rebuttal recently and it was a ZZZZZ..snorer. He thinks he can work with this bunch, Once his bill goes through certain groups and that includes anti-abortion efforts won’t get approved for funding http://www.theusmat.com/

I've had it with this.
It's becoming more and more apparent to me that there is only one solution to this political coup and it ain't gonna be phone calls and protests.

Joy, thanks for staying on top of this. WHY OH WHY OH WHY aren’t Rush,Sean, Mark, etc on top of this? Is this just small potatoes to them? I emailed a bunch of people about this and all I heard back was “cricket cricket”. I am beyond frustrated, but I still feel there are so few people who really understand what’s going on here.. ARGHHHH
