One thing about studies like this is, I don't know how (or if) they control for other factors. Are red meat eaters more likely to smoke? Are they less likely to watch other risk factors (some we may not even know about)? Are people who are more attracted to red meat simply more genetically predisposed to cancers? It's so hard to untangle and correlation does not prove causation.

One thing I have to say is that the meat (red or otherwise) they ate (I assume you mean primitive man) was very different from what we eat today because of animal husbandry practices. I think probably the healthiest thing people could eat would be wild game, much less fat and of course no antibiotics and such. However, most people don’t have access to that anyway.

This report is just in time to give the gov't cover for limiting all red meat purchases by Americans when the National Health Care act is passed.

Since the Gov't will be paying the bill, they can tell you what to eat ... right? Just like they can tell CEO's, CFO's, and other executives of companies who take "gov't" money, how much they can make in salary.

Say bye bye to this ...

You could also question the findings if Rashmi Sinha is a vegetarian.

Most of these “studies” are worthless. Wonder if she selected out meat eaters from carb load eaters. Bet she didn’t.

“Calling the increased risk modest”

Says a lot. You can have my bacon under the same circumstances.

You know, if you think about it, the title is factually wrong. The risk of dying at the end of your life is 100 percent, so it’s hard to envision how mortality risk could be increased. Maybe the risk of early death, but not the risk of dying.

I was taught that correlation does not imply causation. Guess they don’t teach that any more.

The greenies seem to think the land would be utopian if we took cows off the land. We would have to farm it all to make up the calories and nutrition that we would miss from meat so even if they got their way it wouldn’t be what they wanted but they are too stupid to realize that.

so you think they are just ‘seasoning’ public opinion in preparation for national healthcare? could be.. not much has been left on the back burners by Obama so far

I thought about this. However, I’m just very damn tired of people telling individuals HOW they should live, WHAT they should eat. What you may not realize is that academics do for a living is mostly whore their knowledge. Many times, they are looking for grants, money from people or government with other issues in mind (like total control and domination) to subjugate freedom. Academics thrive on publication, grants, studies, contracts, ‘research - usually in the guise of research, anyways’ and brains for sale to anyone who pays. Look at the ilk in our colleges and universities polluting the minds of our children....you just can believe anything they say any more...I know a lot of this for a fact.....
