Law on Flu Vaccinations May Be Tested

Evans/Associated Press
PROTEST Hundreds objected to the mandated flu vaccinations.

THE state’s new law requiring young children attending licensed pre-school and child care centers to get flu vaccinations will be tested this week when thousands of children return to classrooms and playrooms after the long holiday break.

New Jersey, the first state in the nation to require flu shots for young schoolchildren, set a Dec. 31 deadline for parents to obtain flu vaccinations for their children. It was part of a new policy requiring a total of four additional immunizations for schoolchildren over the objections of some parents who worry about possible risks from vaccinations.

The requirement applies to children between 6 months and 5 years who are attending licensed day care and preschool programs. State public health experts said that flu shots for young children are important for overall public health.

“Stopping flu transmission among kids will stop flu transmission in the community at large,” said Dr. Tina Tan, the state epidemiologist.

Health officials said they would not know until after the holiday how many children have met the requirement. The state relies on schools, preschools and day care centers to collect immunization records from parents and then forward the information...

--snip--

An advisory panel for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that all children ages 6 months to 18 years should receive an annual flu shot.

In New Jersey, preschoolers are also required to get a vaccine against the germ that causes pneumonia. That vaccination was due at the beginning of the school year. Sixth graders are required to get a vaccine against meningitis and a booster against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis. Children who enroll in school after the new year, perhaps from other states or countries, must also be vaccinated...

The rules have changed for H5N1. Instead of emphasizing infants, the elderly, and the sick, vaccination emphasis will be for school age children, as they are the most effective human vectors; and everyone in outbreak areas, to limit the spread.

This is the way things used to be done for any number of other epidemic diseases, and is projected to have a better outcome.

Ironically, the group most susceptible to H5N1 are from older teens to people in their early 40s. This is because their strong immune system will overreact to the alien virus, called the “cytokine storm”, which will shred their lungs.

A terrible downside is that once we get a sample of the “actual” pandemic strain, in six months, the most vaccine we will be able to produce is 30 million vaccinations, or enough for only 1 out of every 10 Americans.

To make matters worse, many people will die of oxygen deprivation, solely because America has a perpetual shortage of oxygen ventilators, just slightly more than we need for a typical flu season.

There is no reason to require it.

That’s a good reason to avoid vaccines. How does one go about finding out exactly which ones contain the fetal cell components?

They weren’t saying that 1 in 100 Amish kids are autistic, they are saying that the rate of autism in Amish kids is one hundredth of that of non-Amish communities.

So if the autism rate in NJ is about 1 in 100, the autism rate in the Amish community would be 1 in 10,000.

It’s confusing because 1/100 looks like it could mean one in one hundred instead of one hundredth.

I really hope you are keeping a running total of all the things you have accused me of - I would not want you to get confused.

There is just one serious possibility for limited immunity from the Avian flu (H5N1). Almost nobody has any resistance to it whatsoever, which strongly contributes to its sky high 60% mortality rate (6 in 10 who catch the disease die).

That's presuming that there are no cases where people only had mild cases if it and didn't know it.

Are you saying that they tested EVERYBODY to find out if they were exposed to it? Or only those who were sick enough to require medical treatment?

Keep your big government, Big Brother hands to yourself.

If you like communism so much, move to a country where they like to tell people how to live. But not here.

Where has H5N1 been a problem?

China, as far as I know.

Is that's the case, would be any wonder why there was a 60% mortality rate?

Where do you get the homeopathic flu vaccine? I’m very interested in it, never heard of it before.

Did you read the thread on Jett Travolta’s death. Someone on there is claiming he had autism when his parents say he had a seizure disorder.

I have a daughter with a seizure disorder, and I am sick of people saying autism is the cause of every disability.

I know people who have been diagnosed with autism and given gone through hours and hours of autism therapy that didn’t work just to find out they had brain damage. Urrgggh.

Plus hospitals would be overwhelmed within a couple of weeks with a high attack rate.

We get the flu shots here because my daughters almost died of a respiratory illness when they were babies. My one daughter still has severe asthma when she has a respiratory illness, and my other daughter has a heart arrhythmia and epilepsy. They are high risk. I have asthma, so I guess I am too.

My daughters are not getting the HPV vaccine. They are not high risk. When they start dating, we’ll talk again. However, I would like them to make their own decision at 18.

Only a few use fetal cell lines and you can find a good list of them (and alternatives) here. The main ones that do are the US Rubella vaccine (part of the MMR, hence the use of the monovalent Measles and Mumps vaccines that Merck is apparently going to stop making again), Chickenpox, and Hepatitis A.

People should demand that if they try to legally require girls to get the HPV vaccine, then they should require boys to take it, too, since it’s men who pass the disease around between women and excluding them would be sexist.

I see.

Thank goodness we are past the barrage of vaccines for kids. I might not have this right but I thought I heard that before kids get to kindergarten they've received 30 shots. That's ridiculous! I am referring to kids dropped off as infants to pre-elementary school in daycare. We didn't do that and I refused some of the shots and NEVER had ANY problems.

What I strongly object to is the vaccine is not weak or watered down as it used to be. In other words it's not a watered down germ being injected. The strength has INCREASED. A child's immune system is immature until he/she is two years old. What you rare doing is injecting STRONG GERMS into an immature immune system to kick start it but the QUANITY of strong germs, I fear is causing major problems with kids.

I don't want to get off on a tangent but the same applies to pets. For example, the strength of rabies shots is very strong. They used to inject a watered down version. Now they don't. We stumbled on this when my cat was diagnosed with bone cancer in his ankle - the same leg they inject his rabbies vaccine. It is KNOWN within the veterinary community that BONE CANCER would OFTEN result with the stronger vaccine so instead of shooting them up at the scruff of the neck, at least on a limb you can amputate it and give the pet a chance. It turned out that the kind of cancer he had was not the kind of cancer associated with the rabbies vaccine.

I can't go into detail but we did go with the amputation. I lost a piece of my heart. I'll ALWAYS love Charlie. He adjusted beautifully but it came back four months later in his lungs - his insides were “marbleized”. I will never forget that x-ray. I'm looking for his liver etc and you couldn't find it. By then I had seen many x-rays. It was so difficult ... He did lose his hearing from the surgury and it affected his vision. He didn't hide after the surgery. He was himself but only for a short time.

It was such a no win situation. If we did nothing, he'd die. If we went through with it and with testing it appeared contained so he had a chance. We gave him a chance. He was a great cat. Clearly he wanted to live and his personality didn't change. It turned out to be the right decision for his temperament but an unlucky outcome. We did all kinds of tests to make sure he was “clean” but cancer is sneaky.

Through that experience we learned allot about vaccines and how much more POTENT they are today than in the past. It doesn't matter if it is for animals or humans. They are stronger. When you couple stronger vaccines and a huge increase in the QUANITY of them - you are going to have trouble and we are seeing that.
