Law on Flu Vaccinations May Be Tested

Evans/Associated Press
PROTEST Hundreds objected to the mandated flu vaccinations.

THE state’s new law requiring young children attending licensed pre-school and child care centers to get flu vaccinations will be tested this week when thousands of children return to classrooms and playrooms after the long holiday break.

New Jersey, the first state in the nation to require flu shots for young schoolchildren, set a Dec. 31 deadline for parents to obtain flu vaccinations for their children. It was part of a new policy requiring a total of four additional immunizations for schoolchildren over the objections of some parents who worry about possible risks from vaccinations.

The requirement applies to children between 6 months and 5 years who are attending licensed day care and preschool programs. State public health experts said that flu shots for young children are important for overall public health.

“Stopping flu transmission among kids will stop flu transmission in the community at large,” said Dr. Tina Tan, the state epidemiologist.

Health officials said they would not know until after the holiday how many children have met the requirement. The state relies on schools, preschools and day care centers to collect immunization records from parents and then forward the information...

--snip--

An advisory panel for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that all children ages 6 months to 18 years should receive an annual flu shot.

In New Jersey, preschoolers are also required to get a vaccine against the germ that causes pneumonia. That vaccination was due at the beginning of the school year. Sixth graders are required to get a vaccine against meningitis and a booster against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis. Children who enroll in school after the new year, perhaps from other states or countries, must also be vaccinated...

It is NO coincidence that New Jersey is Pharmaceutical heaven and HURTING. Corzine wants better earnings for the Pharms. so he can get more taxes from them. New Jersey is on the bail out list.

There is NO REASON for this vaccine being required.

One of these days we're going to find out that our immune systems don't develop correctly as children without the normal exposure to things that exorcise it.

The people behind this protest appear to be against all vaccines - not just the flu vaccine.

How about it helps prevent the flu?

The argument against all vaccines is just not rational. The argument against particular vaccines on a case by case basis can be rational and valid.

You do realize that there is more than one strain of the influenza virus, right?

“How about it helps prevent the flu?”

It doesn't.

It has the same problems as the flu shot for an adult. The strain that will make them ill isn't in the shot.

NJ is NOTORIOUS for pushing vaccine's. Years ago we rejected a pneumonia shot for a baby. It was unnecessary. She never got pneumonia.
A problem with these vaccines is that they aren't WEAK. They are STRONG. It's no longer a watered down shot to put the body through a mock fire drill. Many believe in NJ with the HIGH rate of Autism is due to unnecessary vaccines. One in 94 births here is Autistic.

Yes - and due to mutations / evolution a new shot is required each year and sometimes they don’t get the mix correct so it doesn’t protect like it should.

Do you support the use of any vaccines?

Getting the vaccinations is probably wise, but the nanny state’s mandatory route always generates backlash. I’d like to see these immunization schedules more spread out. Our knowledge of immunology is not that sophisticated.

yes but the govt knows better than you or I. They care more too. They are literally mental supermen who know all and see all.

I hadn’t realized the autism rate was so high.

While I totally agree with you that these vaccines are strong and many vaccines are unnecessary, the stat you quote is dependent upon the wide interpretation of the diagnosis of autistic, which is highly suspect due to the amount of federal monies and grants involved for school districts across the nation.

“One of these days we're going to find out that our immune systems don't develop correctly as children without the normal exposure to things that exorcise it.”

Exactly.

I have no idea how I got this but I contracted a staph infection - MRSA. When I completed my round of antibiotics they wanted me to use soap surgeons use to scrub up. I gave them lip service and didn't bother. Instead we got rid of ALL the antibiotic soaps. We must have strong immune systems and ONLY use antibiotics when they are truly needed.

Medical community claim there is no relationship between autism and massive immunization. Look up autism rate Amish on google. Several universities surveyed Amish communities and found their autism rate is 1/100 of non Amish rates. Amish in general do not immunize their kids at the rate we immunize our kids. No body is looking at these studies to draw a conclusion nor expand on them to get to a conclusion. If I were king for the day, I like to see a state in the US experiment by spreading the shot schedule out and another state eliminate shots for non life threatening illnesses and see what happens to the autism rate in their state.

One of the only vaccines left that contains mercury if flu. Noone in our family is taking it. Last year they gave out a vaccine for flu that did not match the strain that was circulating. Children here DO NOT need a flu shot to attend school but the doctors will attempt to jab them with it anyway.

You have to use the most liberal definition of autism to reach the 1 in 94 figure. Any shyness is enough to be classified as autistic under the definition they are using.

>>How about it helps prevent the flu?<<

I got dead sick for two years of getting it. I will never get another.

Nor my kids. And I’m not against vaccines. Just Flu vaccine.
