Keep the seat warm, vote the party line, and collect the reward when he leaves. Sitting pretty, sitting rich.

This is dusgusting. Our governement was set up for average people to serve and then go home, not milk it for a career and use their popularity to get their family to take their place. Then they give each other awards for “public service”. I don’t care what party it is, term limits is the only answer.

Senate seats have become property for privileged families to will to their children.

How stupid are the people of Delaware? Too many DuPont chemicals in the air and soil?

One wrinkle in this scenario: If Beau Biden serves in a “hot” location as opposed to serving as a JAG-type in the rear, he could return home with a realistic understanding of what freedom means and costs. Such an understanding would be more accurate than that held by his “living-constitution” father. Of course, there is little chance of such an assignment, being the VP’s son.

In any event, if he gets out and about, he may have an opportunity to see up close what it looks like to have been an oppressed populace for decades or centuries.

STAND UP AMERICA! The presidential election is not over!
We voted for electors, not the individual candidates. The electors vote on or after December 15, 2009. The results are then presented to a joint session of Congress and objections may be heard on January 8, 2009. See the letter on my About page hand-delivered to the local offices of my Republican Senators and Representatives. I urge you to take similar action, even if it is simply faxing a one page letter to Washington, D.C.

I wonder if the GOP will again take an essential pass on the Biden seat. It will be permanently Biden, it seems. People in DE don’t understand the importance of controlling the power of government.

“I do not think that Delaware’s appointed senator should spend the next two years running for office,” Kaufman said. “I will do this job to the best of my ability to serve the people of Delaware.”

Libspeak translation: "My campaign begins next week. Vote for me in 2 years."

They should go back to state legislatures appointing Senators and be done with the charade already.

Listening to Hannity on the radio today....

He said that Bill Clinton made a remark recently that Chelsea has a promising career in politics.

"Seatwarmer" in the sense that the Kennedy's used Benjamin Smith to fill Jack's Senate seat until Teddy could be elected?

Or "seatwarmer" in the sense that Barney Frank used Steve Gobie until he found out Gobie was running an escort service out of their townhouse?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Odious RINO Mike Castle is the probably the only one who could beat Lincoln Chaffee er Beau Biden.

Auditor Tom Wagner is the only other Republican in statewide office.

Beau Biden, a member of Delaware’s National Guard, is currently preparing to be deployed to the Middle East, and took himself out of the running for the appointment.

Very smart. Why take a position that you will not be able to work in while in Iraq or Afganistan. Good for him for putting country first. Of course he is still a Democrat...
