Students Suspended For Obama Comments

Officials at Papillion–La Vista South High School have suspended two students who allegedly used insensitive language during a social studies class discussion about the presidential election.

The school said the juniors made comments about President-elect Barack Obama that had racial and religious undertones.

School officials declined to release the names of the two juniors and did not say how long they'll be kept out of classes. They also didn't disclose exactly what the students said, but indicated that the suspension fell under the Papio-La Vista School District's harassment policy.

"It basically says that any language that's offensive, based on gender, race, religion or ethnicity is not tolerated," said principal Enid Schonewise. "It is very bothersome when you have these kinds of activities taking place in your building."

Schonewise said the rest of the student body has been handling the aftermath of the incident in proper fashion.

"What we do in such situations as this is try to address the behavior and change it," she said. "We're a learning environment. We want every student at South to feel comfortable in their learning environment and comfortable in our building."

The incident wasn't the only one of this type to occur recently in metro schools. A Bellevue East student came to the attention of the Secret Service after allegedly making threatening remarks about Obama.

The Bellevue district did not take action in that case because the incident did not occur on school grounds and no charges were filed.

(VOA's imagination of excerpted remarks from Schonewise's next
address to the student assembly)
(START PARODY MODE)

Dear Comrades,
Thank you for handling the aftermath of this forbidden criticism
of Our Messiah by students that will now be receiving the glorious
gift of RE-education at an undisclosed location.

(END PARODY MODE)

Too bad that didn't read much like a parody...

Call Bush "Curious George" and get a pat on the back. Call Obama that and get suspended, kicked off the team, beat up by thugs, fired from your job. This is the Change.

“Homeschooling BUMP!”

That’s how we got where we are today.
Conservatives abandoned the public schools for parochial schools or home schooling.

The libs were free to turn out legions of mush headed liberals. And those products of a broken school system now vote.

Go ahead, remove your kids, but don’t abandon the public schools or you’ll doom your kids to live in a communist paradise.

Serves them right. No one can be allowed to criticize the Beloved Leader. The first amendment is obsolete.

This is America's future under POTUS Barry. What do you think the Civilian Armed Force he wants will be doing?

People scoff when I tell them how dangerous 0bama supporters are. They are not being realistic.

I did something dumb my own self. Sent a link about the IL lottery number coming up with 666 on Nov 5 to an 0bama supporting coworker. It was meant as humor of course. She told me she did not appreciate it. So we see how humorless these people are. Now I have to be afraid she’s going to report me to the PC police or something.

One of the reasons I voted against 0bama was that I am scared of his supporters and the cult like worship of this guy. All the more reason I should have known not to even send a message I thought was humor.

What if Mr. McCain had been elected, and some students said bad things about him. Would they have been suspended, too?

No, everyone would've laughed, and they would've become the most popular kids in the school.

Most likely they called him a “Muslim.” Which is technically correct, BTW.

Welcome to Marxist-Politically Correct-Multicultural America.

Hmmm, no quotations of the ‘insensitive’ language?

The flexibility of "the press" to observe their own mantra of
"The Public's Right To Know" never ceases to amaze me.

That's why they remind me of jellyfish:
spineless and capable of pointlessly damaging innocent people.

Was it the teachers or the principal who inserted the bamboo shoots under the scoundrels’ fingernails?

Unless they used the “N” word, I don’t know how this was truly offensive or worth a suspension.

doesn't matter if they did. whatever racially insensitive remark they used, cite examples of any other students using the same, or worse, remarks (most likely when listening to rap crap music) and sue the school for racial discrimination.

Of course, the teacher’s were free to teach “Bush lied, people died” as if it was gospel.

Homeschooling BUMP!

Amen!

And/or schooling at the right private or religionally-affiliated school.

Note that this little incident was probably provocated by a union member
(the teacher) that almost certainly is an Obamabot.

(Yeah, it could have been intemperate racial remarks by the students.
But I wouldn’t bet on that being the case!)

I suspect they said he is a “black muslim.” Agree that if “N” word had been used no one would be up in arms about the suspension.

He has presented himself as black, and so much about his life has indicated he may well have practicing the muslim religion for years. BFD
