Take a Day off from Free Republic
Vanity
Posted on 10/15/2008 9:28:46 AM PDT by SantaLuz
Here's a thought. Take a day off from Free Republic in the next couple of weeks and spend it posting comments and replys on the MSM web-sites. I'd recommend the TV and newspaper sites that you think most independents will read.
I try to take a little time out every day to leave a couple posts with links to stories the MSM refuses to cover.
Anyway a lot-of-little goes a long way.

how about a National Day of Not Posting Unsourced Vanities in the News Forum? Yeah, that would be cool.

No thanks, I took Monday off - didn’t view or post and felt empty and out of touch with my peeps!

No mater how polite I am, I keep getting banned by my local newspaper’s blogsite, simply because they don’t like Republican or Conservative views about much of anything.

What? WHAT? *shaking* A whole DAY off from Free Republic?
Do they offer a rehab for addicted posters? I need to look into that.

I’m glad you brought this up.
There needs to be an active, everyday campaign to digg articles. Polls seem to be the big thing, but if you ever visit digg.com and look at what that generation is reading, they are all anti-conservative-republican-McCain. These are the articles that mold the minds of that very large audience(mainly younger). If FR got behind and actively dugg conservative articles, then they would have to read.
www.digg.com if you’ve never visited. It’s very big and widespread on the net.

That's easy for you to say.
You obviously don't go into withdrawals, and get the shakes and DTs, and see pink elephants (I think these might be the 'Log Cabin Republicans), when you try to kick the Free Republic addiction...

I post at a variety of sites. Volokh and Patterico are fun, and for a lefty point of view, Balkinize. I've also been known to post at moonbat left sites, but usually limit my comments to factual or procedural points.
I managed to end up in a non-public dialog with a well-known AP reporter as a result of my posts at Volokh - the reporter made contact with me.
But yeah, it's good to scout around so as to not depend on any single source, and to stifle the natural tendency toward group-think.

DieHard the Hunter is mighty in battle over on this NZ-based MSM blog:
DieHard in Action...
Even tho' posting under a nom-de-guerre, you should easily be able to spot his razor wit and sniper-accurate cunning, as he mows down all Obamanites before him...

I think the better approach is to do both. Come to FR and get the facts than post them to tick off the MSM.

posting to lefties is like playing tennis against a wall- no matter how good you hit the ball, the wall, expending no intelligence or energy whatsoever, just bounces it back to you

Come to FR and get the facts ... --
But be sure to verify them independently (dig deeper than the source post material), to make sure they really are facts, rather than half-fact, false, or some other form of misrepresentation.
Lost credibility is hard to recover.

Start slow is my advice. Take ten minutes off the first day, 20 minutes the second. Work your way up to a whole day off. You try that right away and your head will explode like mine did.
I got better...

Here's a thought.
If you are making negative posts about McCain or the election, take the next month off of Free Republic.
